The farmer at Polyface was stunned. “I’m a voluntary farmer. They’re a voluntary buyer. We’re neighbors. What do you mean? We can’t butcher a chicken here and sell it to them?”
Officials said if one fly entered the processing area the chicken was adulterated and inedible. They demanded fly-impregnable mesh over the windows.
One problem: Salatin processed outdoors with no walls.
“It doesn’t say I have to have a wall,” he told them.
He brought in his senator, his delegate, and an attorney. Three months later he won. A legislative aide asked the regulators whether someone in Richmond had written rules that could never have imagined a place like Polyface. They had to admit yes.
A lab had just compared his birds to store-bought chicken. The supermarket birds had gone through 40 chlorine baths. His had none. Store-bought averaged 3,600 colony-forming units of bacteria. His averaged 133 — 27 times cleaner.
When Salatin pointed that out, the regulator replied that cleanliness was not all they were concerned about.
The real standard was never food safety. It was compliance. Small farms that actually produce cleaner food get crushed by rules written for industrial processors.

The Arab, a terrorist straight out of the enemy population, told him “follow me” and in fact led him to the heart of the murderers’ village of Turmus Ayya where terrorists began pelting him with stones.
The Jew escaped with his vehicle and, by a miracle, reached the Shiloh Valley—where residents and security forces joined him.

@americanshomer To the extent he re-empowered Iran, and Biden re-funded Hamas and both shoved "daylight between the US and Israel" yes. And Biden got Israel to agree to the ceasefire extension that gave Gaza more work permits etc..and strong armed Israel into the gas deal with Hezbollah...

Shomron (Samaria) was founded as the capital of the Kingdom of Israel some 3000 years ago. Later renamed Sebastia by Herod, the King of Judea, it is a site of Jewish legacy and cultural heritage.
UNESCO should know the Jewish history of Sebastia. A World Heritage designation that obliterates that history undermines the institution's own purpose.
