Here’s another short explainer on Title IX and the currently stayed ed rule that includes gender identity and sexual orientation under the general prohibition on sex discrimination. For those of you under the mistaken impression it’s bad for women’s sports.
Paint the Roses Red Podcast@RosesPaintedRed

@MaxDashu @KarenFOrlando @janeclarejones You are entirely mistaken and being hostile about it for no good reason. title IX addresses discrimination against women by prohibiting sex discrimination. It then makes some exemptions to allow for discrimination in a number of instances like housing, athletics and other areas…

Wordle 1,756 5/6 ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟨🟩⬜⬜⬜ 🟩⬜🟨🟨🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Quite pissed off at this. I only tried that final word in exasperation because it was the only thing I could see that would fit. I didn’t think it was actually a word! Has anyone else ever heard that word?

Oh my gosh. Sigh. People with DSDs are all people born with reproductive conditions. Why don’t you ever say that? Why do you say all these vague things? It isn’t a “variety of presentations” bc it isn’t a state of being. It’s 60 different medical conditions that aren’t related to each other, so they aren’t all “presentations of a thing.” You speak with such precision on other topics but never this. You can’t say anything that has credibility or makes any sense bc you won’t address the elephant in the room that you’re actually talking about intersex conditions and not DSD overall. So you use DSD and it ends up not making sense since DSD isn’t the same as intersex. At the very least the answer should have been that DSD is a broad category that covers all reproductive development conditions. Some of those conditions affect males, which most of the time results in male puberty. No one would ever walk away with an accurate understanding of the DSD category after reading this post and we all pay the price

“People with DSDs don’t go through male puberty” is precisely why the IOC tangled themselves up in the first place. DSDs are not a monolith: they are an umbrella group of conditions that encompass a variety of presentations, and with - honestly - not much of coherent stratification beyond “stuff to do with reproductive development”. But come on, you’re a molecular biologist (according to bio). You understand what male puberty is, and why it happens. Many people with DSDs go through male developmental stages. Most obviously, most of the male ones. The ones that have the anatomy that underpins male development relevant to sport. Some people with DSDs don’t go through male development. These are a subset of (technical hat on) males, and the female ones. Sports categories say nothing about “legal sex”, identity, even how you were brought up. It is concerned only with your physiology.

@Olivia_Reingold so do palestinian muslims? so do Samaritans? the central religious practice of judaism for 2000 years has been about exile. it is equally if not more correct to say that Judaism is a faith built on being an alien with no national home territory.

Abdul El-Sayed, who is Muslim, walks a fine line on the Jewish state. On Tuesday night, he told the crowd—as he does often—that his problem is not with Jews. “All of us love and revere Jewish folk, our Jewish neighbors, the faith of Judaism,” he said, hands outstretched. Later that night, in a makeshift spin room assembled by the campaign, he rebuffed my question on whether he believes in Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. “What do you mean by ‘Jewish state?’ ” he retorted, narrowing his eyes. “If you can’t answer that question, I’m not going to answer it.” For someone who often waves around his respect for Judaism, he seemed unaware of something elementary: Judaism is not only a religion, but a people with a long-standing connection to Israel that runs through its prayers, traditions, and history.

I'm sorry, but where is the biological advantage in throwing a dart at a board? Oh yeah, it's not there because, like in sports such as eSports and chess, biological advantage in darts doesn't exist. This is just purely and only the DRA taking advice from people who think they are know it alls on fairness in sports, but instead are know it alls in imported culture wars. #TransWomenAreWomen

😢 A tearful Noa-Lynn Van Leuven has announced her "retirement" after revealing a DRA ruling banning transgender players from women's darts events. "I just got an email, apparently I just got retired. Not by choice but because I am longer allowed to compete, the DRA decided that trans women are no longer allowed in women's events." "With just one decision, I am being told I don't belong anymore. This isn't just about me, it's another huge hit for the trans community." #Darts | Via Noa-Lynn Van Leuven Instagram

1/ None of these folks can handle even the most basic followup question or civil dispute -- hence the blocking and the overheated trash-talk. I'd like someone to politely ask Geidner if he thinks it was a mistake for Tremaine Carroll to be transferred back to a male facility.

Public hangings were already banned in 20 states, out of the 30 then existing, by 1850. This odious carbuncle probably wants to go back a century earlier when many public executions in Europe still involved breaking bones with a sledgehammer.

A student today at my elite university admitted to me today that she took a class so she could work on reading for more than 20 minutes at a time. She can't read. She mainly skims and summarizes, she says and still gets A's. This student is, by professional standards, illiterate. Gonna have high GPA when she graduates. This conversation was had after 6 of 22 students dropped my course because the maximum reading per week in one week was over 100 pages. What people aren't grasping is that this is literally *dangerous*. These people are going to be come doctors, engineers, etc. They are - by any metric - vastly less capable than prior generations. These effects are cumulative over a lifetime. This grade inflation is part of the problem, but not even close to the entirety. And the problem obviously starts in K-12. Students don't know history because, you can't actually become historically literate on the advice of 'never assign more than 30 pages a week'. You can't develop any of the skills that came with literacy. This is, quite honestly, a civilizational catastrophe.

No matter how many folks in the legal academy Professor Wurman tries to launder his work through to pad legitimacy, it is still poor historical work that should be judged for bastardizing the common law. Seven profs who don’t know what they’re talking about are just seven people.
