@flatwifetheory Definitely a disappointing oversight but I think calling the game "soulless" is a bit much. I can't call it that when the bonus round music in the merchant shooting range made me smile so hard.

There's so much that other people mentioned so I'll say one I haven't seen: No laser sight except for an attachment only compatible with a couple handguns. Totally soulless.

@Cleaver720 @TheDimmeh @missredspy I mean he brings up the suppressors then realizes he's missing them then dips lol. In Remake he's actively helping Leon right there beside him. Cracking more jokes and giving Leon story exposition. Remake adds more "cabin" moments with Luis.

i always find this funny, what exactly do you guys like about luis in re4 og? he’s not even a good character, and barely shows up enough to really feel present. the remake did something incredible by improving both his character and story. that comparison never made sense to me

@adasbutterflies I really don't get this critique. RE9 is basically structured like a "Greatest Hits" album of the best of the series. This section is clearly the most blatant RE6 section of the game but it's treating it like a celebration. Like yeah, we can be absurd dumb fun for a moment.

It's just super disappointing that a ton of content was cut and that Nemesis is sadly somehow a less interesting Mr.X which sounds absurd. But it's still a solid quick game to play through if you want more Resident Evil as a new fan.

@WeaponNR @NotOrionLMAO I was super bummed to find that out recently considering 3 was one of the few I didn't play the og of, and was recently going through RE2 remake while hanging with a friend and mentioned I might pick up 3make, only for him to tell me of all the stuff they messed up in it.

I disliked the 3make. But worst? Operation Raccoon City? Umbrella Corps? Resistence? 6? Re:Verse? The mobile games?

@Cleaver720 @TheDimmeh @missredspy Like that easter egg was super cool when I played OG and I remember telling my friends at school to try it lol. But if the trade off to losing that is making Luis even better as a character I'll take the latter.

@Cleaver720 @TheDimmeh @missredspy Like Luis's best part in OG is the cabin fight no doubt. But he vanishes, reappears then just gets murdered by Saddler. In Remake, his death gives more tension between Leon and Krauser and he's just much more likable since he's with Leon much more.

I also like that at the end of the game Leon low-key pays homage to Luis by repeating his "You like thrill rides?" to Ashley during the Jetski escape. Luis was fun in OG, but he was an actual character in Remake.

@buxgarii Both RE7 and RE8 Chris share the exact same face model actor, but you can see by 8 they figured out how to exaggerate and shape his face to not only look more like the old Chris face but there's clearly some stylistic choices being applied, similar to how Grace has bigger eyes.

@buxgarii I believe with early RE Engine they weren't super confident with altering/sculpting face scans. Later on they got more comfortable with it, especially once they figured out an "art style" with Resident Evil that wasn't just 1:1 hyper realism (which makes the DLSS5 stuff funny)

@AutismCapital The biggest issue here is the condescending voice. They want to show off the AI voice but that is just redundant. If the Forza example just gave immediate visual recommendations on a UI no one would think twice about it. It would just be a neat feature to help.

@Dr_EPIC69 @CONEY OH RE4 was like the blueprint for third person action shooter setpiece games. Massive influence on both Uncharted and TLoU. Dead Space 1 was in development and had its entire build scrapped and reworked because the director played RE4 and was just like "Oh shit, okay."

@CONEY So I have a question, as someone who's only played re4 remake and requiem, is resident evil the precursor to games like the TLOU? Or is it that 4 remake and requiem lean into that third person action gameplay that TLOU also does?

There's no gatekeeping involved here, you just open a sketchbook or get a drawing tablet and just /try/. You'll make some bad drawings but there's satisfaction from learning and not relying on GenAI.

@zachtothefuller @maximilian_ Gen AI exists for convenience and to save time. Progress will always follow that pattern. You aren't entitled for your art to be valuable. Gen AI is a blessing to a lot of people who simply can't make art by traditional means. For companies, its a means to a profitable end.

@TheJailbreakAI @NikTek To me this is exactly how AI should be used. It should be part of the workflow in the beginning and middle to clean up information and help create assets, it shouldn't be a blanket genAI filter placed over the final render.

@NikTek this game def used ai. it was used for ultra realistic face and body scans. machine learning was used for cleaning up noisy scan data and reconstructing missing details and mapping expressions. the only difference is the ai was used before rendering instead of during like DLSS.

Death Stranding 2 already proved that you don't need generative AI to make extremely realistic faces in video-games This running smoothly on a PS5 console is showing how much progress game graphics have made over the years. Most importantly, this doesn't look uncanny

This whole DLSS 5 Ai Discourse in a nutshell. Max has great points here, many people people got tricked into thinking it looks good but if you look at the overall picture it actually looks like Shit, this Ai Horseshit doesn't know where the light source is supposed to be and it just makes up random features of characters. @Maracus57 @TRIPSTER0 As a still frame it works because GenAI is pulling from a ton of photographs. But the moment you introduce motion this falls apart and looks uncanny because we're not used to seeing touched up photos move like this. In Starfield's case it's polishing a turd.
