I hate networking!!! …Friends, colleagues, and others often call me a master networker—but let’s be clear: I don’t do networking. At least not the traditional, transactional kind. I’ve never been interested in surface-level exchanges or collecting business cards for the sake of optics. What I care about is connection. I’m obsessed with it—the kind rooted in trust, shared values, interests, and real conversation. That’s where the best business happens. Some of the most meaningful deals I’ve been part of didn’t start with a pitch. They started with connection. With listening. I’ve been fortunate to create rooms that aren’t just curated—they’re alive. Truth is, I’ve always hated sticker name tags and the forced small talk of traditional networking events. It’s become a bit predatory—everyone chasing something, rarely present, rarely real. One thing I’ve learned along the way: I don’t want to do business with people I don’t genuinely like or respect. Life’s too short, and the work is too important for anything less. That’s why I build rooms differently. I bring people together over shared interests—whether it’s a compelling art event, access to membership clubs (shoutout to our incredible partners), or a cooking class and some spilled wine. Trust me, the best relationships will come naturally. Just real people, real connection—and the real opportunities follow.

We had a packed house last week! @RubenAAustin did a fantastic job of leading @andycloyd and myself through our topic: A Global Workforce Couple highlights from our panel: Find the 1%: Work from anywhere is a HUGE UNLOCK for anyone building a business and scaling a team. You're able to truly find the top 1% of whatever it is that you're hiring for, anywhere in the world... Don't settle!! Strength of the USD: $1 in in Brazil or South Africa goes a heck of a lot further than it does in NYC! You can capitalize on this and scale more efficiently than you may have thought was possible... Expectations: With all of the async tools out there, and proper onboarding/training, you can hold your entire team to the exact same standard. Doesn't matter if they're sitting right next to you, or a 3100 miles away... We're at an inflection point with globalization. What used to just be for big businesses, (BPO), post covid, is now trickling down to businesses of all shapes and sized, industry verticals, etc. It was exiting to hear success stories of folks like Andy who have been able to build an extremely robust hybrid global workforce... And you could literally hear the gears turning with other entrepreneurs and operators in the room with us as they had mini realizations about what was possible for the scale of their business, when they think globally. Huge thanks to everyone who was able to make it! These sorts of conversations are always invigorating. Much more to come from HIREXE across the board on this topic... Exciting times :)
