@chiefkittenme We did two cross country road trips with toddlers. Zero screens. They entertained themselves with books, singalongs, and enjoying the beauty of America out the window. Boredom helps kids build their imaginations.

Pregnancy is the most metabolically demanding thing your body will ever do. Your blood volume goes up about 50%. Your heart grows 30%. Your kidneys filter 50% more blood. You build an entire new organ from scratch (the placenta), and that organ produces more hormones in a day than your body usually makes in months. You grow another person's bones out of your own minerals. If you're pregnant and your body wants to rest instead of working, cooking, or showing up somewhere, listen to it. There's no other state in your life where your body is doing this much underneath.

@SantaClausborne @ogjearbear I've literally seen grown men writing he has to be the strongest person at his dad's funeral. It is weird and not appropriate. Then they sprinkle on future performance expectations.

@ogjearbear No one is asking him to be strong for his mom. He just was in a tough moment for her. Maybe today is the day you learn you don’t have to post every thought that crops up in the old noggin there.

I’m raising a son, how do I avoid this?? Processed food is an issue forsure, strenuous activity needs to be increased, what else?? I don’t want a soft kid because I wasn’t raised soft

@DukeHerndon The stark physical difference between young men and young women of the same age is severely understated. Relationships with significant age gaps are very obviously biologically advantageous.

My mom signed up to do Neilsen ratings and they sent her a wearable monitor you’re supposed to wear 24/7 to record the entertainment you’re exposed to and WHAT lol. Is this how it’s always been?? It feels super invasive!

@areck0001 @GeauxGabrielle Pneumonia vaccine also only covers certain causes of pneumonia. His lifestyle (very busy, plus travels plus g forces) plus possible steroid shots to help with his sinuses may have made it worse.

@GeauxGabrielle I wonder if he was pneumonia vaccinated. I think it's at 65 they recommend it. Just wondering if this was a vaccine preventable death? Prayers to the family.

Kyle Busch dying of septic pneumonia at 41 is terrifying, especially when studies from every major academic or research body in the country have confirmed that COVID-19 is causing a rise in it because even an asymptomatic infection is destroying the immune system enough to cause this.

@audrawrongspeak As a mother of 3, I have never in my life understood the obsession some people have with feeding a baby as a bonding thing. It is bonding thing for a breastfeeding mother but a bottle is like a sippy cup or a chicken sandwich. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It really annoys me when my family pressures me to wean my exclusively breast fed baby to a bottle because, first of all, they’re not the ones having to pump, clean pump parts, clean bottles on top of waking up throughout the night. Nor have to listen to her scream for hours on end for milk. Nor do I have $75/week for her allergy formula, so??? Sorry I don’t have $320/month just lying around. I’ll just take the baby with me when we go places. Plus my one friend got her baby to take a sippy cup at 7 months so we’re 3 months old at this point. 4 months isn’t long to wait to be able to leave her. I don’t understand the mindset of wanting to make more work for me just because you want to feed the baby. You can bond with the baby in other ways (snuggling, talking, reading books, peekaboo, diaper changes, etc.) Just annoyed. 😒

@RubyLucille @TucsonZia @RealAbs1776 @milove131 We all know that what she’s saying is is that they have not ruled out pulmonary embolism because the only way to rule it out would be an autopsy. You can’t literally tell if somebody died from sepsis when it could’ve been PE with sepsis

Kyle Busch died of sepsis caused by pneumonia. I’m sorry, but this makes little to no sense. With the money and access to treatment he had - someone either missed something or misdiagnosed something. How was he so sick with pneumonia that it became sepsis, yet 2 days prior he was kart racing with his kid? If his pneumonia were that far along, would he not have been damn near bed ridden? And what was his team doing letting him race while being that sick to begin with? thegatewaypundit.com/2026/05/nascar…

@RealAbs1776 That is how sepsis works. It develops in the background without symptoms and then sets off a rapid chain of events. If it were easily spotted, people wouldn't die from it.

@nickmmark I grew up close enough to the speedway that I could hear this weekend's race from my backyard. My dad had a PE this week and I think KB did too.

@Devilsrain4 @jeff_gluck @KyleBusch They don't owe you anything but it is likely pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis from one of those, a pulmonary embolism, etc. Those can go from 0 to 100 quickly.

NEW: 75-year-old dies after physical fight with 20-year-old shift leader at Fort Wayne Tim Hortons On May 13, 2026, Anita Ann Grayson entered the Tim Hortons lobby on Ice Way/Lima Road in Fort Wayne to complain about her drive-thru order. She began berating a 17-year-old female employee. When 20-year-old shift leader August Horner intervened, Grayson struck her, sparking a physical fight in which both women fell to the ground. After the altercation was broken up, Grayson sat at a table, then lay on the floor and became unresponsive. The family and community are calling for justice for Grayson and for Tim Hortons to close its doors.

even though Emily says “standard jobs” I actually think this situation is pretty uncommon. by the time you have elementary aged kids you’re either senior enough at work that you can get in on a random Tuesday at 11am without stress (move your client meetings or whatever) or your job is not that serious and you can just not schedule a shift for then. the very specific stage where you’re grinding/striving it out in a serious job, can’t take a break is ideally just like 5ish years of your career and many people cranked it out before they had kids. in the unlikely scenario where you didn’t (now it’s time for doctor residency or whatever) it’s pretty unlikely that it’s BOTH parents overlapping in it at exactly the same time. so some of this is causal like if your job has ZERO flexibility and you don’t make very much money you stay home with the kids. jobs with zero flexibility and lots of money seem sort of rare to me and weird if both parents have this.
emily may@emilykmay

idk how two parents with standard in person 9-5 jobs have elementary aged kids because every three weeks there is some award ceremony, parade, or presentation at school that is from 9:30-9:45 am. and in the month of may, it's once a week, and don't forget the random half days.
