It has always been difficult to quantify how individual judges sentence compared with category-wide averages, how those patterns vary across demographic groups, and how often offenders granted unusual leniency later reoffend. With AI, that kind of large-scale judicial pattern analysis is now far more achievable. This data could be compiled and publicly published to induce a mechanism for accountability for judges. In places where people vote for the judges this would finally inform voters of who they are actually voting for.

Today, the U.S. voted no on the UN's effort to rewrite international law to attack American energy. We successfully peeled off some of the worst elements -- resulting in the final passage of something much weaker and much less cumbersome.   For example, the final version removed a devastating registry of damages aimed at "climate reparations" to allow the world to fine Americans for our energy usage. We cut the resolution's overly broad language that would ban certain kinds of energy over time. What the General Assembly wound up passing was a mandate for a new report from the Secretary General, but one that requires American input. The government should never have allowed corn to monopolize ethanol policy. If ethanol was truly about carbon reduction and energy security, incentives should have been based on verified lifecycle emissions, land use, water impact, fertilizer intensity, and food-market effects. Sugarcane ethanol, sugar-beet/molasses pathways, crop waste, and perennial grasses like switchgrass should have competed on merits, instead of letting corn lobbyists buy out the decision.
