@Mon4Kooyong You take out a loan, you should have to pay it back under the terms that were originally agreed upon

@Maurs_5 How on earth do they think this will help retain new teachers or any teachers for that matter? A lot of amazing and incredibly hard working teachers will miss out and feel completely disenfranchised... And if they weren't considering leaving before they probably will afterwards.

@RoseBaySC @GreeningAust "A school grows great when students plant trees in whose shade they may never sit"... Or something like that. Well done to all involved!

What we learned from COVID? That oil is worthless in a society without consumption. That healthcare has to be public because health is public. That 50% of jobs can be done from home while the other 50% deserve more than they're being paid. That we live in a society not an economy

BREAKING: Huge numbers of Australians have owned, driven and trusted Toyota cars over the years, so this may come as pretty shocking.. Turns out #Toyota has grim record of greenwashing and lobbying against measures to reduce climate pollution from cars. New reports out today..🧵

Not all field work is sweat and grind, sometimes you have to stop and smell (and stare at) the flowers. Out today in all good bookshops, The @UrbanFieldNats guide to the creatures in your neighbourhood.

Here's a 1-minute video showing--in the words of visualization hero @EdwardTufte--the "compared to what" factor for today's amazing @NASAWebb image. Thanks to the @WWTelescope for making this possible, and @ADavidWeigel. I only wish @NASA and @POTUS had shown the image this way!

@realCarrickRyan Yup agreed, currently living in Europe and it's tough finding a good coffee. In Aus, I reckon a crap coffee is the exception... Mind you, I drink my coffee with a bit of milk and I suspect our fresh milk gives us a bit of a leg up. Pretty much all UHT over here it seems 🤢.

@Maurs_5 @PeterDutton_MP Extremist views like the ozone depleting effects of cfc's or the ecological effects of compounds like DDT... or is it how CO2 interacts with the IR spectrum and it's heat retaining properties.. No wait, now I've got it, it's that extremist atomic theory. Schrödinger at it again!

A new type of typeface might be beneficial to neurodivergent readers! 🤯 It's called bionic reading — the first few letters are bolded, making it easier for readers to glide through text and stay focused. (links in reply)

@Davejeffery22 @AlboMP I suppose one day those kids will eventually be helping support us in our old age through their work and taxes. So if you don't have kids you'll get their support eventually... unless you're fortunate enough to not need any support in your old age. In that case your doing ok.

@AlboMP So I have to pay for someone else to look after their kids while they go and earn enough to out bid me on that house I can barely afford now.

The stories I heard from parents this morning were raw and honest. A big thank you to everyone who came and shared. Labor’s cheaper child care policy will reduce the pressure of child care costs on families.
