Rain is ramping up & today will be the wettest day of the week! By 6 a.m. Asheville has already added more rain than all day yesterday. The tradeoff is the mild temps with highs in the 60s! #ncwx #avlwx #wncwx #scwx

A wet & mild pattern will carry us into the weekend. It comes to an end by the end of the weekend thanks to a cold front. Rain and some mountain snow will be possible on the backside early next week. #ncwx #scwx #wncwx #avlwx

Air quality remains a problem for us this morning. Smoke particles from Canadian wildfires have reached unhealthy levels for some. It's a code orange action alert day 🟠 The worst conditions will be this morning with gradual improvement through the afternoon.

Another HOT one today! High temperatures are reaching for the upper 80s, similar to yesterday. If you're headed outside, keep an eye to the sky! We're watching for our next round of showers and storms this afternoon. Damaging wind and lots of lightning will be possible.

Doppler estimated rainfall totals are incredible in Polk County after heavy rain overnight. Damage is being reported around the county, including this bridge collapse. @graceewlos is on the ground gathering more info.
