Tom Pidcock lost a sprint a deux for the first time in his career; he was 3-0 up until today, won during these occasions against van Aert, Almeida, and Strong.
None of them was a flat sprint, though - I wonder what could have been if a Capo Mele-type of hill had served as a finish line. Probably the same. But still, Pidders rode a flawless race, and his 2026 form is miles better than his 2025 was and that already felt really awesome.

A 90-degree corner in the last 50m of a reduced bunch sprint is not ideal but it was a surprise to end like this, hard stage. Fortunately, no crash happpened. Davide Donati entered first so of course he won, great sprint by him. 👍 #GirodiSardegna
