This is very likely a war crime and a violation of U.S. military law. It is Putin-like behavior. If you are an Airman or Naval Aviator I highly suggest you think hard about carrying out an order to strike a civilian power plant. Under the Geneva Conventions, you can’t target civilian infrastructure just to harm civilians which includes power plants serving homes, hospitals, and water are protected. That being said if they support military systems, they CAN become legitimate targets. But even then, if civilian harm outweighs the military gain, it can still be a war crime. That is called proportionality. This comes after Hegseth said no quarter which is also a war crime and a violation of U.S. military law.

I uploaded a document to ChatGPT and asked it to check for any instances of Canadian spelling because I needed American but sometimes that slips in, and it very confidently told me that yes I had indeed used the term "shopping centres." So I did a search of my document but nothing came up. The only instance of "shopping centers" was spelled correctly. So I said to ChatGPT that no, that wasn't correct, and it came back to me insisting it was spelled in a Canadian manner and even showed me the sentence (but with the Canadian spelling of "centre"). So again I said no, I checked the document and it uses American spelling. So FINALLY, I get: You’re absolutely right — and thank you for pushing back on that. I rechecked the actual file content, and there is no “shopping centres” anywhere. It’s correctly written as: ✅ shopping centers 🤦🤷
