There is NO way to verify kids' age online without forcing EVERYONE to show ID to use social media and the Internet. Anyone telling you this will keep kids safe is a fucking fool. This will result in data breaches and stolen identities On top of digital ID and mass surveillance

Since 2021 NatWest has offered a Carbon Footprint Tracker feature in its mobile banking app that estimates the CO₂ emissions linked to everyday spending. It is optional.
So the technology is there.
"It analyses your anonymised outgoing transactions, categorises them (e.g., groceries, fashion, travel), & multiplies by industry-average emissions factors to give an estimate."
Imaging the Keir Starmer & Ed Miliband getting hold of this information on your Digital ID card?
Sorry no more travel or petrol for you & block your card, fine you or whatever.

I was at the No To Digital ID event in Trafalgar Square. Adam Brooks @EssexPR has no interest in a "papers please," QR code society.
He refers to the Chinese Social credit system will you be allowed to criticise the PM, not allowed to travel or draw your pension
Adam adds, "It is a control mechanism not in the manifesto" & "do you trust the govt to keep your data safe."

I'm very concerned about the fact that at the moment
the big name on the block is age gating
and what's driving me mad is
that all of the discussion about
"let's think of the children"
child Protection ban social media for under 16s
doesn't think about what it means for over 16s
so digital ID is one big issue
but what we are seeing is that the government
the state in various ways wants to check up on what we read
what we post as memes what we say to each other
and they're doing that via "think of the children"
child Protection measures and age gating
so that's the end of privacy
that means they can actually genuinely keep tabs on us
because you can't age gate unless you show who you are
proof of age biometric data and so on and so forth
so I really think you're fighting the good fight here
drawing attention to the variety of ways that the digital
checking on who we are what we say
what we read
is actually an attack on free speech
is happening more and more via digital ID mechanisms
and my big bugbear is age gating and no bans for under 16 year olds
because it's over 16 year olds who are going lose their democratic
