@NYRLouie any potential trade targets? My unscientific formula is targeting forwards from 2017-2022 drafts and focusing on 5v5 primary points of players who might not have reached their intended peaks yet.

@AdamZHerman not to nit pick but edstrom has never played on the pk in NHL (just over 2 min in career). I had heard him and Sikora were a power kill tandom in HFD i believe though

TBD on Edström but when he was playing well NYR had no issues deploying him in defensive situations and on the PK. Whereas with Rempe, even when NYR coaches were praising him, it was in an extremely sheltered role for 7 minutes per night.

@AdamZHerman Is it? What about Edstrom? At times Edstrom has looked decent.

@vzmercogliano weird, lots of coach speak but like did he tell Eddy exactly what you want from him in his 3 shifts per period? How are you supposed to be "consistent" getting 8 minutes a night? Not a big deal overall but weird.

Adam Edström will be a healthy scratch for the 11th straight game tonight. Sullivan said consistency (or lack thereof) is the main reason while offering this explanation for the string of scratches: “The message was — is — that we're trying to walk the line of giving some young guys opportunities, but also trying to reward performance and effort and energy and execution and all those things. And we think as a coaching staff that that's an important element of what we're trying to build here and what we're trying to accomplish. How we perform, how we execute, how all of that stuff matters. Some of the guys that have been in the lineup and those decisions that we've made, we've made those decisions for a lot of those reasons. Eddy’s one of those guys. He's a great kid. He's a good teammate. Him and I have had a couple of conversations around this. As I said to Eddy, we don't always expect players to agree with the decisions that we make, but we hope they respect the decisions that we make, and we try to make them for the right reasons, and we try to communicate that to all the players." #NYR

Any nhl team could hire me for a million bucks a year; I would do nothing but say 'don't do that' five times a year, and I'd be worth it.

It is with a heavy heart that we confirm the passing of former Pirates infielder Phil Garner. "Scrap Iron” was a beloved member of the Pirates family as he spent five of his 16 Major League seasons playing with the Pirates (1977-1981), capturing a World Series championship in 1979. He batted .417 in the N.L. Championship Series that year and .500 in seven games against the Baltimore Orioles in the Fall Classic.

@theradiospiel Sullivan I think can, its his strength getting good on ice value out of middling defensemen.

@RyanO22000 I think you overestimate how easy it is to replace competent defenseman. Now granted, I'm probably making the same argument as you if it's Braden Schneider.

@theradiospiel Because I think he’s replaceable, especially with a coach like Sullivan. I’ll take the assets if someone is willing to pay up.

@RyanO22000 This isn't a rebuild. They're not selling everything nailed down. If it doesn't make the team better now, why do it?

@RyanO22000 On a macro level it was a return to form in 25-26. His 24-25 numbers were some of the worst of his career looking at HDCA, xGA, etc. 24-25 is the abberation. The solve is either finding a 2RHD to push him to pair three or dynamic puck moving 2LHD to pair with him on pair two.

@theradiospiel how have they looked in the past? Ive heard Sullivan can up the floor of certain types of d-men. He might be easily replaceable.

Borgen's suppression/defensive metrics are all perfectly in line with the Rangers this year (that is to say, kind of good at 5v5). He's up 17-11 since the break ended. Ideally, he's on a third pair with a puck mover, but he'd be just fine on a second pair with the right partner.

@lukefoxjukebox this seems extremely unnecessary for a sport who's average trade is a future 4th for a 28 year old 3rd pair LHD who is a pending UFA

@BillTouspille listed at 5-8 (so probably 5-6 1/2) even with Cole Caufield exploding this is still a bridge to far for most GM's.

This is my guy. He’s going to be an absolute star Unless the rangers win the lottery to move into the top-2, I grab him as early as 5 (They will never do this)

Viggo Björck (#2026NHLDraft) has continued to dominate with Djurgården's U20 squad after their SHL team got eliminated. So far, he's added 6G, 6A in 5 playoff games, scoring this game-winner in yesterday's game to help his team advance to the semifinals.

@RyanO22000 @BillSimmons Simply put, it’s likely many players have benefited slightly from home stat keepers, but the extent to which Stockton did, if at all, didn’t impact him holding the records he’s got

@pokoneill @BillSimmons could be, I just know I had heard stuff about the Utah stat keepers, but Magic also seemed to average a lot better assists at home so maybe everybody did it.

@JCigan @BillSimmons thats a career number? I was looking more 85-86 through 92-93 and he seemingly averaged about 1.5 assists more per game at home. Eatons blocks follow the same trajectory starting in 85-86 usually averaging over 1 extra block per game at home.

@RyanO22000 @MFE80 @theradiospiel @Icecat94 Taking a step further further back, he burned a year of a three year ELC, but if his contract had started in the fall he was only eligible for a two year ELC. This didn't affect the timing of his next contact. The margin lost is 3 weeks of ELC salary.
