Half the Chinese population still earns only about RMB 1,000 a month — roughly AUD $200. Rural villagers’ retirement pension is just RMB 200, or around AUD $40 a month. This is the reality of “socialism with Chinese characteristics” under the Chinese Communist Party. The only people who are truly rich and powerful are Xi Jinping and his inner circle.

I’ve never been bothered about negative gearing changes. When Albo likely scales it back to one property or two if he’s feeling generous. But the CGT changes are unfair. Imagine the people who grafted hard only for the government to take away more money to waste.

Big fella is completely correct. We mentally and physically labour for something that can just be reproduced ad nauseum. Unfortunately we have to interact with this system on its terms which still largely means earning and using printable money. There’s no way my job would ever pay me in gold or bitcoin, but I grab some of each whenever I have the opportunity.

ANY NEW DIRECTION is better than the direction we’re headed now. If I recall my data correctly, the median Australian income is around $70,000 annually. This salary is not enough, and it’s disgustingly wrong. On this salary, housing costs - be it rent or mortgage - is going to eat into a large percentage of this level of income. Try to understand why people are so upset. They aren’t idiots or racists or bigots. They are people who by and large work hard and feel very left behind in the Australia of today.
