Much has been made of the inflated balls used during March Madness, but it has not affected things much: Tournament 3PT: 34.3% (typically 33.9% during the season) Tournament O-Reb rate: 30.9% (typically 30.6%)

A couple things to ponder re: NIL/Cinderella: - Siena was a scoring drought away from beating an all-time Duke team - Santa Clara was a halfcourt shot away from beating the most expensive roster in CBB - The 12-14 seed lines were heavily weakened by Champ Week upsets

@jtuckermartin Agreed. As terrible as yesterday was from a watchability standpoint, Sunday could end up more than making up for it. Incredible lineup for a second round.

Clearly effect of the portal + NIL is massive decrease in First Round Cinderella’s (only 1 this year- High Point. Don’t tell me also VCU- VCU is a PROGRAM) but- glass half full- the Round of 32 matchups are getting better and better. So the next 2 days should feature great ball

Perhaps the NCAA moment of the day... The player on the right in this interaction is 6'8 btw 😳 Prairie View A&M's Hassane Diallo: (*looks in awe*) "You a freshman?" 7'8 Olivier Rioux: "Yep." Diallo: "You BIG boy!" (*silence*) "Where you from?" Rioux: (*pause*) "Canada." Diallo: (*looks in awe again*)

Hey Miami, how are you? Just checking in to update you on your tourney schedule this weekend. We know you’re the 7 seed, but we are going to give you a road game at the 10 seed. We are also going to put that in the last time slot and then put you up first Sunday. Enjoy!

How about the job Jai Lucas has done in year one at Miami? With the Hurricanes’ 80-66 win over Missouri last night, the program has matched a Division I record for the largest single-season turnaround with a 19-win difference. From 7 victories to 26. Canes meet Purdue Sunday.

Ben McCollum advances out of the first round of the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row, with two different teams, both times as the lower seed. Including his Division II career, he's won at least one game in 11 of his 13 trips to the NCAA tournament.

For the 6th time since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985, the 9 seeds went 4-0 against the 8 seeds. It also happened in 1989, 1994, 1999, 2001 and 2019. 9 seeds are now 87-77 against the 8s.
