In light of the UN’s continued perfidy in Ukraine, I’m going to unload a story I’ve held inside about them for almost 20 years. To be clear, I think the idea of the UN is great but like all things human, it is flawed. Since seeing it in action in tens of countries, I am now in favor of its total dissolution as a so-called peacekeeping and mediation body, and instead think it should focus on monitoring, reporting, and things like UNESCO, which it does quite well. But the rest, straight into the garbage. It’s become a nepotistic, money-laundering, craven, and impotent organization full of freeloaders. I have tons of “fuck the UN” stories from multiple countries, the likes of which you have all heard before - high-living, local national staff abuse, sex scandals, insider contracting abuse, blah blah. Mine is of a slightly different flavor. You see, the UN, and some extremely “ideological” staff absolutely thrive on being the antagonist to forces they perceive as evil, like the US military. They stomp and yell about every perceived infraction and slight, to the point that nothing productive gets done. I remember sitting in a coordination meeting and the majority of it was spent arguing with the US MIL about their use of some white cars and trucks (unmarked) because white cars and Land Cruisers (VERY MARKED) have always been the domain of the UN and other humanitarian NGOs. Is this an issue? Sort of - but plenty of Afghans, Italian commercial companies, and the Chinese also drove unmarked white Land Cruisers. Was it worth antagonizing the couple dudes from the military who came voluntarily to that meeting? Absolutely not. Everyone after the meeting was SO fucking self-congratulatory about how they really stuck it to those guys. They wanted to browbeat and write a big long report about it, not solve the issue. But my issue…man to this day it still burns. I was working with a counterpart in the UN to release some information to them. A couple months before there had been a major kerfluffle in Kabul where a British soldier had been arrested for supposedly leaking information to another British human rights worker - info he had been authorized to disclose, someone was just overzealous. So the process for releasing the info became VERY top heavy, requiring signature after signature and a lot of review. I told this person that. Repeatedly. Asked for patience. When the time came that I had the info, I emailed. I emailed again. I emailed again. No response. I go on vacation. I see she emails, gets my out of office. This bitch sets a meeting with some of my higher-ups, complains to them I was withholding information in order to paint herself and the UN as some aggrieved party, because that’s their favorite position - as the righteous antagonist to the evil military-industrial complex. And she 100% knew she was lying, as I learned later from a sympathetic source in the community. She was PROUD she could cause such discord. I realize this is simplified, but it was the biggest instance I experienced of how perfidious and counterproductive they were. I found out much later that her own personal research was on the subject of the information being released and it would have killed her own narrative had she just emailed me back and I sent the requested info, her little academic paper thesis might have been ruined. Anyway, fuck you lady, dissolve the UN.

I think the practice of marxists gushing over in praise of tyrannical foreign regimes goes back to 1919-1930. When hundreds of leftwing Western intellectuals travelled to the Soviet Union and wrote utterly ridiculous pieces gushing all over the Stalinist regime.

The war is reaching a turning point. Ukraine regained the initiative and Russia is running out of steam. And even though this may be petty, a friend of mine had the idea of making a little video project reminding everyone which influencers supported the Russians.

An honest question for all the experts out there: When the Russia Ukraine war started, many global companies quickly pulled out of Russia and took public moral stances. If China ever attacked Taiwan, would those same CEOs have the courage to pull their companies out of China too? Or would they stay silent out of fear, protect their profits, and expose themselves as hypocrites?
