@EM_Creates @Phillies As a Diamondbacks fan I feel like you’d be welcome to give our logos a shot and would get at least some appreciation if you used the original colors purple, teal, black, and bronze.

@studios2491 We need to figure out what the Brewers and Rays are doing to develop starting pitchers and copy it. I feel like we haven’t had any real success stories with pitchers from our farm system.

@CBSScottWhite I think the Venn diagram of people who will make well thought through and nuanced criticisms about analytics and the people who are inclined to dislike well thought through and nuanced analytics is very, very small.

I wish people who complain about "analytics" (which is still happening in 2026, TIL) would be more precise in their complaints. It usually sounds like they're saying "those who want access to this information should be kept in the dark," but surely they're not because that would be diabolical. I think it's more displeasure in how this information is being communicated to them, which would be a fair complaint. Not everyone has an academic mind. You don't need to know what exit velocity is to understand the importance of hitting the ball hard.

This is exactly why Juan Soto will never be in the same conversation as Ohtani, Judge, Trout, etc. Lazy. Shit attitude. Self-centered. This - literally - cost his team a run. It's not even a lack of hustle - it's worse. It's a completely "I don't give a f**k!" attitude.

@Simoncolman4 @StefanMolyneux You can't see that someone else has consciousness, you infer it. The problem of solipsism is unsolvable but rightly and easily ignored for the most part.

@StefanMolyneux I never got your consciousness is a convergent property of matter. It seems like your are stating a claim that we can’t possibly know. Other people can see you’re conscious from the property of matter but we can’t know that our own consciousness comes from matter.

@EveKeneinan I don't believe in god because there's no evidence that it exists. I would love if something like that existed. Like seriously - it would be cool if there was afterlife, etc. But I choose to live in the real world.

This is a key point. Almost no atheists actually live AS IF atheism were true. The few who try, like Nietzsche, tend to tumble into the abyss. Most of them fix on something, like "evolution", and just pretend that that is the source of morality, which makes as much sense as "chemistry," but that doesn't matter. They aren't looking for truth, just a placeholder to point to and say "That's the source of morality," no matter how senseless it is. They know, at some level, that their worldview is false, so they make a kind of patchwork: • they know morality is real, because their consciences don't allow them to simply let it go, something not possible for a human being • So they fall back on the Atheistic Syllogism: 1 I believe in morality 2 I don't believe in God 3 So, because I try to hold both these beliefs, they are not incoherent, because I try to hold both But of course human beings can and do hold contradictory beliefs, all the time. That is the reason that Socrates carried out his examinations.
Sandy Petersen 🪔@SandyofCthulhu

It's because atheists have consciences (and what I call the Light of Christ) and are emotional beings and so their nature rebels against this conclusion. Most of my friends throughout my life have been atheists and agnostics, though I am a believer, but none of them behave in a manner that would reflect that awful bleak universe. Not even Lovecraft did.

Its original high fantasy aesthetic was what made it appealing for many people. They began going downhill once they transitioned to digital-only paintings. They actively discourage traditional oils now, last I heard. Now the collaborations are out of hand (SpongeBob, Sonic, Marvel, Chucky), DEI has infested everything (black vikings for example), and they release new sets at breakneck speed (bimonthly) I don't know how they're still making millions when they've promised that 50% of all new sets will be Fortnite-tier crossovers. Then again, I don't know how Fortnite and CoD are making so much money either. I guess the Funko Pop crowd is bigger than we imagine. Either way, Magic—as old players knew it—is dead outside of unofficial formats where fan rules say you can only use older cards.

I never played Magic, but does this sort of thing turn anyone else off to the game? Imagine going to play against someone and he pulls out his Spiderman/SpongeBob slop deck. At what point does MtG lose its identity to become another Fortnite crossover slop game?

@SagatSuntorn @dissidentwest Excellent point. I don't think this post was directed at your people or the Japanese. In fact the "take what works and integrate it while maintaining a unique culture" would be exactly what most Western peoples really want. I hope you see the respect that your cultures get.
