You can argue about that, but at the same competitive level, they are.
Some Konaté types can also happen to be outrageously talented (Gvardiol) just as a Maguire type can be outrageously talented (Saliba), but all things roughly equal, the CCB is always more valuable.

@nonewthing Is any Saliba/ maguire esque centre back inherently more valuable than a gabriel/ Konate? I.e. is a bang average sweeper centre back always more valuable than an elite aggressor type centre back? If not where is the line drawn?

Pep's challenge was to figure out how to press high enough to be effective as a possession side while defending large spaces that definitely get exposed in the PL, he never had that problem anywhere, not even in the Bundesliga.

Thinking about athletic defenders, the idea i had of Pep's biggest challenge in the PL was that he had to figure out how to break down stubborn, deep blocks, how off the mark was i, it was not.

@DerKaiserBM That's the Bayern way of operating —signings must align with both the coach's requirements and the club's vision. Yet, the tweet can be misleading; Tuchel got Kane and Kim, Nagelsmann had Mané, Upamecano, De Ligt, Sabitzer, Cancelo, etc. Only Flick has the right to complain.
