Constituency votes are counted first. The candidate with the most votes in each Constituency wins. How Scotland is divided up for elections: Scotland is divided into 73 constituencies, each one represented by 1 MSP. Scotland is also divided into 8 regions (larger areas covering several constituencies). Each region is represented by 7 MSPs. This results in 129 MSPs in total: 73 constituency MSPs and 56 regional MSPs.

On March 26, 2026, the IOC Executive Board approved a 10 page policy banning transgender women from all female events at the Olympics starting with the 2028 Los Angeles Games. Eligibility is now limited to biological females verified by a one time SRY gene screening. Athletes who test negative are permanently eligible. The policy also restricts most athletes with differences in sex development, including two time Olympic champion Caster Semenya. Dropping millage from 60,000 on a 3 year lease to 30,000 if you go over it's 25p a mile. Many people on pip work and the car is a lifeline for them. Piglet update: 13 piglets started on porridge today. My daughter arrived home and very kindly (with her boyfriend) did the night shift for me so I had a full nights sleep 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳 Still two left to lamb but the scan man said they were outliers so I risked not checking on them overnight. All was well.

Here's my wee Kenny Dalglish story... My school picked a charity to fundraise for each new and pupils were encouraged to come up with fun ways to raise money. When I was in S5 (that's the penultimate year of high school for those unfamiliar with the Scottish education system), I decided to run a season-long Fantasy Football league. I charged my fellow pupils a fee to take part and then a small amount - think it was 20p a time - to make transfers. We had something like 150-200 teams and it was great fun. A lot of work every weekend, but I loved doing it. Anyway, for the end-of-season prize-giving, I wrote to Sir Kenny, c/o Celtic FC where he was interim manager, inviting him to come to present the prizes to the winners at one of our school assemblies. His daughter was also a pupil at the school so I was hopeful he might help out. He went MUCH further than that. Not only did he come and present the prizes as requested, he brought a bunch of signed goodies for the winners and stayed on for an hour-and-a-half afterwards speaking to all my fellow pupils, signing autographs and posing for photos. One of my strongest memories is being on stage next to him at the assembly and seeing all the pupils' jaws drop as he they walked in to see him sitting there. I then looked over my shoulder behind me where there were always five rows of seats for the teachers to occupy. Oridinarily, they were about 1/3 to 1/2 full. That day, every seat was taken with another row of teachers standing at the back. Their jaws were hanging lower than the pupils'! For a couple of days, I was the most popular kid in the school - all because of King Kenny. I've met him multiple times since through work and he truly is a complete gentleman. Humble, no ego and just a genuinely good guy. Love him.
