With Perkins & Black sent down, Brewers are down to 14 healthy hitters. One is the extra catcher, Reese McGuire. So, the Opening Day position player group is basically set. Contreras Sánchez Bauers Hamilton Ortiz Rengifo Turang Vaughn Chourio Frelick Lockridge Mitchell Yelich

High Point +18 from 3pt range ... and Chase Johnston killing it from 35'. Wisconsin lost in the way they won so often...shooting was ridiculous. The Badgers lost with Nick Boyd getting to the rim... but getting blocked tonight when it mattered.

@cdubs201 @THEbadgermaniac HPs bigs were smaller but quicker and more athletic. UW thought they had an advantage there but didn't. I'd say UW didn't shoot enough 3s. It was their identity all season and they only put up 23 today. They haven't shot that few since the Milwaukee game.

Winter being on a pitch count mattered today. Team was simply better with him in the floor, especially defensively. Being able to play only 20 minutes was a factor.

@itsAntWright Won by 13 in 3Pt+FT. More Orebs. Took 11 more shots and only 3 fewer FT. More steals. More assists. The game changed entirely on the logo 3. Boyd and Blackwell started pressing and hero balled themselves out of the game.

@itsAntWright @EvanMiya TCU is usually just the tougher team with the more active frontcourt in every game they play. If they hit shots, it's a real problem.

@JBRBracketology Yeah, no beef at all with UW's seed. I just think that something similar happened with Vandy regarding the process which leads to not really having much capacity to implement contingencies. The time/effort to first debate and then, if necessary, rearrange, is too much.

@SCK4068 I had Wisconsin as a 5 before and after. 5 seed is appropriate - metrics generally point to a 6, the elite wins push them up a seed line.

Last thought on Vanderbilt: Committee likely voted on the 4/5 seed lines sometime Thursday/ Friday before Vanderbilt played Tennessee. Fine, I get it. They have to start and get teams in some order, before they can adjust as necessary to games played over the weekend. Friday morning metrics for Vandy: 15 NET, 16 WAB, 15 SOR, 13 KenPom... 3-3 vs Q1A and 8-6 vs Q1... Only 1 win vs Top 4 seed lines (home vs Alabama) and only one road win vs single digit seed (@ Tennessee)... So, based on those data points a low end 4, maybe high end 5 seed if you want to ding them for lack of elite wins. Now lets add in the two neutral Q1A wins over Tennessee and Florida. Sunday morning metrics for Vandy: 13 NET, 9 WAB, 7 SOR, 11 KenPom... 5-3 vs Q1A and 10-6 vs Q1 + now a neutral court blowout win over a 1 seed... The new profile points to a solid 3 seed, at worst a high end 4 seed. The four metrics posted above moved up by an average of 4.75 spots, which *should* equate to a full seed line jump (4 spots = 1 full seed line). By seeding Vanderbilt a 5 seed in the final bracket, you are essentially saying you moved Vanderbilt up 0 or 1 spots (mayyyybe 2 spots if they really didnt like the Vandy profile as of Friday?) for adding two Q1A neutral court wins over Tennessee and Florida... That doesn't make any sense. Last point: Vanderbilt finished with an incredibly impressive 11 wins vs the at-large field - and 11-7 overall vs Field. By comparison: 2 seed Iowa State 7 (wins vs at-large field) 3 seed UVA 9 3 seed Michigan State 8 3 seed Illinois 7 3 seed Gonzaga 7 4 seed Kansas 10 4 seed Arkansas 9 4 seed Alabama 8 4 seed Nebraska 5
JBR@JBRBracketology

Vanderbilt as a 5 seed is a bit befuddling. They should have been a 3 seed had they won today vs Arkansas, a 4 seed with the loss. Feels like the committee didn't properly account for the value of a neutral court win over NET #4 Florida.

@Graham_Couch In 2004 Wisconsin was 24-6, 10th AP, 6th KenPom, one game behind IL in the B1G. Won the BTT beating IL. The reward? 6 seed in the NCAA vs 3-seed BE champ 29-4 Pitt (KPom5). The region also had 29-1 St Joes (KP3) and 27-2 OK State (KP4). It only matters if they want it to

MSU's 2016 team would like a word. The Spartans won the Big Ten tournament and were surprised to get a 2 seed instead of a 1, and thus played Middle Tennessee State. We all know how that went. Committee will have to be consistent in including the BTT title game moving forward.
Nicole Auerbach@NicoleAuerbach

Keith Gill says Michigan dropped from the #2 No. 1 seed to the #3 No. 1 seed because of the Big Ten title game result. Purdue moved up from a No. 3 to No. 2 seed because of the win.

@nickbateman33 @CBBAnalytics These can't be rate-based in terms of turnovers and rebounding, which doesn't make a lot of sense, if you're simultaneously using a rate-based stat like efficiency for offense.

The Very Important Graph™️ from cbbanalytics.com FINAL UPDATE!! All 20 final 4 teams over the past 4 years have been in the top right quadrant Purpose is to see which teams consistently have more possessions/scoring opportunities than their opponent, and who's efficient enough offensively to take advantage.

@BarstoolBigCat Given the pod, there was no way Wisconsin wasn't going to be the first game. Hawaii wasn't playing at 8:50 am Hawaii time. And Gonzaga/BYU/Texas or NC State was always going to be session 2.

@badgemeloman Anything can happen in one game. That is the beauty of the tournament. Based on the metrics, High Point is similar to Oregon in terms of overall quality, and we know what happened in Eugene.

I think High Point is a great matchup for Badgers. They want to play the tempo the Badgers want to play, but just aren't as good. Badgers should shred their defense. High Point has not played a top 100 team all season.

Only major gripe is Vanderbilt as a No. 5 seed. Entered today ranked... 8th in KPI 7th in SOR 9th in WAB 14th in BPI 11th in KP 10th in TRK Not sure where a No. 5 comes from (had them as a No. 4).
