@Chens89 @FutureBlueIce The top end NCAA programs are 100% better than any CHL program in off-ice development. They become strong in college while not beating themselves up with the game schedule. MSU and UofM off-ice programs are probably better than some NHL programs.

@FutureBlueIce No I know that, I don’t want to discredit Michigan and it’s an elite college program, I’d send my kid there too, even if I am not a huge fan of Naurato lol end of the day I think each route deserves respect and have a big part to play in the developmental landscape.

Seems like some CHL folks may still struggle to accept the new landscape over a year in. Kids want to get to #CollegeHockey. It’s a 4-yr clock focused on development on/off the ice, so even the ones who take minor roles initially do so knowing they can grow as part of a legacy.

@GreatLakeMagyar @WingRaider @RedWingDiehards He’s was a motivator amongst actual leaders in USA. He excelled because the pressure was off of him to lead so he just played hockey, on the 3rd line too…. Name another team he would be 1C and also the captain. I think he’s burned out here.

@GreatLakeMagyar @WingRaider @RedWingDiehards No, but as C, he provides the mood and leadership in the room, which creates the team's culture. Team USA is a different story: he wasn’t the “leader”; he was in a supporting role on that team, which is where he should be on this team.

The Detroit Red Wings are broken. There is something fundamentally wrong in the locker room. Look at the production of the players that leave, wether its to another team or international completion. It’s not even the talent there is something rotting from within.

@RedWingDiehards He’s saying leadership in the locker room is a big issue. We’ve always heard, since minor hockey, that when 71 is slumping, everyone else has to walk on egg shells, and then there’s Kane and Debrincat. Who are like Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on Ice.

NHL rebuilds typically take 5 - 12 years, with a norm of 8 - 9 years to move from a bottom-tier team to becoming a consistent playoff contender or Stanley Cup competitor. After a team bottoms out, it needs an average of 8.5 years to start making the playoffs in consecutive years

@BCHL_Alberta I was a SC coach in the OHL. These players barely have time to train in the weight room due to their schedule and travel time. NCAA teams literally have the best weight rooms, coaches and resources than some pro teams. Night and day.

In my mind the biggest thing the CHL is fighting against is the growing perception that the CHL is a high school league and if you want to “become a man” you need to make the jump to college. It’s going to become increasingly status-lowering to *still* be playing CHL when you’re 19 or 20.
