Marques Johnson The Giants have an affinity for supination-heavy arms, and Johnson is the prototype. He doesn’t get enough credit for 2025 performance (33% K, 13% BB, 3.14 xFIP between A+ and AA), and the raw stuff instills even more confidence. Johnson mixes three heavy, horizontally-moving offerings: a 94 mph cutter, a lift-y sweeper, and a hard, depthier slurve on the same plane. The sweeper and slurve — identical except that the slurve drops 10 inches more — create a pretty unhittable tunnel. It was only 3.2 innings, but just look at the sheer dominance this spring. He’ll need to prove he can consistently be in-zone, but with that level of stuff, Johnson just needs to be over the plate. I’d like to see more sinkers implemented, a nice armside counter to such a gloveside-heavy arsenal.
