Schools need to align their "support" for struggling students with the core curriculum, two new reports argue. Otherwise, "incoherent" instruction holds kids back. Makes sense--unless the core curriculum itself is incoherent. More in my new post: nataliewexler.substack.com/p/most-struggl…

The anti-Ed Tech and pro-book movements are gaining momentum, especially for elementary grades. Let's get the memo to the nation's curriculum selection committees, pronto. They're making curriculum choices right now that schools will live with for the next 5-7 years. My latest for @CurriculumIP: Feat. @JonHaidt @natwexler @mark_bauerlein @KelseyTuoc

We’re proud to support Phil Kim for the Board of Education! Kim brings years of experience as a lifelong educator — from his time as a public school teacher to leading STEM education and policy at hundreds of schools across the country. Since being unanimously elected Board President, Kim has worked to get SFUSD back on track by prioritizing student outcomes in literacy and math while moving the district toward fiscal sustainability. We trust Phil Kim to continue leading with a relentless focus on our kids — delivering improved academic results, protecting teacher jobs, and ensuring every school is safe and accessible. 🗳 Learn more: #board-of-education" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">growsf.org/voter-guide/#b

@SFParents I don't see how we get out of negative certification with the additional expense load of the contract which requires spending down reserves + relying on parcel tax funds that have an expiration. That's if the state approves this at all...

The $183 million deal for the nearly 6,000 educators will increase SFUSD’s annual budget by nearly 15%, with no indication that future local, state or federal revenue will cover the new costs. sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
