Marco (@marcoroth_) is a great example of someone who is an active part of the Rails community. He built Herb by listening to developers' frustrations and made it open source to give back. Herb is an HTML-aware ERB toolchain and an ecosystem of developer tools for HTML + ERB files. We interviewed Marco back in November 2025 at @sfrubyconf when Herb was still in development. In this conversation, he explains what it is, how Ruby simplifies AI coding, and why attending conferences and events matters.

We want you to meet Andy (@andywang), the founder of Finta. Last year, we invited him to demo his product at @sfrubyconf. He has a background in CS and finance. After working as a finance director at different companies, he built a tax and accounting solution for devtool founders that actually makes taxes "forgettable." @Finta is becoming the new default for startups to handle accounting and taxes. Within 10 minutes, founders get automated bookkeeping, effortless tax filing, and real-time insights. 🧵

Meet Kody (@kodykendall), an SF-based software engineer and founder. He's big on bootstrapping, open source, and making AI practical for indie builders and teams. At @SFRubyConf, we made a point of giving the stage to founders who are actually building things and connecting them to active members of the Ruby community. Kody was one of them. He demoed LlamaPress AI, a fullstack coding agent called Leonardo that helps ops teams build custom Rails apps in the browser. We got to see Leonardo work through and solve errors in real time. Link to the demo below.

No one could actually explain what PMF is or how to find it... until @inazarova conducted thesis-grade research on 30+ successful devtool companies. She built a PMF compass that tells you exactly what to do next based on where you are. If you have an early-stage devtool, AI, or cybersecurity startup: go to evilmartians.com, answer a few questions, and get your plan of action.

If you're a Rails engineer, you've probably seen or heard of @inazarova—but have you ever wondered about her background? Watch her interview with @michael_rispoli and learn how she went from engineer to investment banker to our CEO, how we monetize open source projects like AnyCable, and more: evilmartians.com/events/strictl…

What should I present at the upcoming @sfrubyconf on Mar 24? The backdrop for the talk is building @OpenGraphPlus with Rails, but I need to pick a focus.

Most founders spend years chasing PMF with no compass. We're changing that on March 23rd. 👀 Save the date.
