This is fascinating: NYC's oldest steakhouse (opened in 1827) is also America's FIRST fine dining restaurant It's called Delmonico's Apparently they invented: - printed menus & à la carte ordering - private dining rooms - eggs benedict Lincoln, JFK, Mark Twain & Marilyn Monroe all dined here I went once, it was meh. But incredible history and cultural significance behind this institution
