Was honored to spend some time with @AkwyZ @NeilMilliken and @debraruh talking about the human-side of software and the importance of human-centric design and development. A topic that I don't think really gets the attention it deserves. #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

Today on #AXSChat Twitter Chat. 98% of over 700 IT experts believe in human-centric software. Shockingly, only 34% are taking action. The gap is real, but awareness is a solid start! We talk with @sfaatz, the director of the developer relations team at Progress. @sarbjeetjohal @dhinchcliffe @Aziesmaili @JorgeCunha @GlenGilmore @AndyDRC @Xbond49 @dinisguarda @JudgeWren @pierrepinna @AsieduEdmund @IanLJones98 @BetaMoroney @Nicochan33 @jeancayeux @sonu_monika @baski_LA @mikeflache @enilev @efipm @thomas_dettling @jblefevre60 @debraruh @puneetsinghal22 @NeilMilliken Full podcast here. buzzsprout.com/719037/episode…

A6: Knowledge is power. I do believe that most people want to do the right thing. If we raise awareness about accessible design & continue to provide education, people will rise to the occasion. Tech companies & devs should come together to move our industry forward. #AXSChat

Q6: How can raising awareness about accessible design and procurement standards close the digital divide? What role do tech companies and developers play in this effort? #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

A4: Accessibility & inclusivity need to be first-class citizens in the app dev process. Curriculum should be modified as needed to ensure its taught and not left as an afterthought. For those who have at their craft for a while, we need to continue to educate them. #AXSChat

Q4: Groups like Progress are pushing for #accessibility in software development. How can we support these initiatives and hold developers accountable for inclusive design? #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong

A2: Humans use software. Yet all too often devs fixate on the tech itself & not on the UX. Orgs can ensure they are creating apps & digital platforms that include everyone by educating their dev teams not just on accessibility standards but on the needs of their users. #AXSChat

@NeilMilliken 100% and we really haven't looked back since. No more than ever it is important that all software development is built with all humans in mind.

A1: The pandemic made apps of convenience apps of necessity. Our reliance on technology surged during that time and we haven’t looked back. If we aren’t building applications that are accessible to all users, we are excluding a larger percentage of the population. #AXSChat

Q1: As society becomes more tech-dependent, how do inaccessible apps and platforms contribute to the growing digital divide? What impact does this have on people with disabilities? #AXSChat #WeAreBillionStrong
