An important step of support by the United States – a $100 million contribution for the repair of the Chornobyl confinement, which was damaged by Russia’s strike on the night of February 14 last year. This was a deliberate attack by Russia on the Chornobyl plant, carried out with a drone equivalent to the Iranian “shahed”.
The confinement, shielding the remains of the Chornobyl plant, protects everyone from radiation threats. It was built through the efforts of an international coalition, and its restoration now requires more than €500 million.
The full safety of the confinement must be restored. We are working together with partners to achieve this, and every contribution brings us closer to the goal. Last Sunday, on the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster, we agreed on cooperation with partners during the Chornobyl International Conference on Nuclear Safety and Recovery. Today, we have results. Thank you to the United States for its support!

During the International #Chornobyl40 Conference, we discussed with partners the financial needs for restoring the Confinement. As of today, they amount to approximately €500m. Today, Ukraine has adopted new sanctions decisions against Russian entities involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children, and against vessels of Russia’s shadow fleet.
The first sanctions list includes individuals engaged in the transfer of Ukrainian children from temporarily occupied territories, the erasure of their identity, and their concealment from their families and from Ukraine. Among those sanctioned are functionaries of Russia’s state system, collaborationists in the temporarily occupied territories, and propagandists.
The second sanctions list covers 23 vessels used by Moscow for oil exports. Some of these ships are already subject to sanctions by our partners. We are working to synchronize all our sanctions regimes – partner sanctions in Ukraine and Ukrainian sanctions in partner jurisdictions.
We are also preparing another sanctions package of particular significance in the near future. Glory to Ukraine!
