@MarcusCVance As for the lions, while them actively sabotaging the war for Armageddon is stupid, a good 80-90% of the effectiveness of the Inquisition comes from their reputation, so they kinda have to brutally suppress open dissent

@MarcusCVance Which chapter master in particular. And with the guardsmen, arguably so as even mere knowledge of chaos or even small exposure can lead to corruption

This is The Fool's position. Now you need to justify why every single action taken by the Imperium was needed for survival. Did The Inquisition NEED to kill that Chapter Master? Did the Administratum NEED to sterilize and enslave the Guard soldiers of Armageddon?
Mr.Throwaway6985@Kamp4u2

@MarcusCVance Answer the question vance, what does it take to convince you and for you to not disregard it as you already have done. You are like the rest of the people that spout this, actively ignoring the IN-UNIVERSE SETTING & the CONSEQUENCES/CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES. Just to go "le GI Joe"

@navyrvuwbysfur @MarcusCVance For chaos, that’s part of my headaches with the inconsistency of the writing. You’ll have meeee pieces of clothing or even just base ideas cause chaos corruption, then have armies get through a battle with no real effects

@SJaykobb @MarcusCVance Celestial lions is probably the awnser. They wiped a chapter off the face of the galaxy because they didnt agree with the inquisition. Also, by the logic of knowledge of chaos, everybody in the imperium should be executed. The galaxy getting split in half definitely exposed it.

WARHAMMER 40K: You want a 'better tomorrow'? FUCK OFF, THIS IS THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FUTURE WHERE THERE IS ONLY WAR!! YOUR SORRY ASS DOESN'T EVEN -GET- A TOMORROW!! You get to fight a to-the-death battle that will have practically ZERO real impact upon the literally GALAXY-SPANNING CONFLICT that ravages innumerable planetary systems, and your sole consolation is that when you die - and oh, you ARE most definitely going to die - you will die in the knowledge that you didn't go gently, that in your last moments, you raged against the inevitable dying of the light. THAT is what WARHAMMER 40k is about. Utopia died with the Dark Age of Technology.
Marshal Bohemond ⚔️⛨ | Space Marine Vtuber@HMBohemond

Warhammer 40,000 took some hits in the culture war, but will ultimately come out fine because at the end of the day it's a right wing, chud coded setting. It's inherently antithetical to the utopian world view of the tourists who try to claim it. There's no better indicator that your average Reddit, Bluesky, or lefty Twitter tourist doesn't actually engage with 40k on a meaningful level than when they actually consume the fiction and get so very upset over the fact it's nothing like Text to Speech or Adeptus Ridiculous described it as. They can't "fix it" without utterly upending it entirely, at which point it and Games Workshop would die out completely. Because the right wing power fantasy is it's main appeal outside the lore. On a subconscious level even the tourists crave such fantasies, though they'll never admit it out loud.

@LucilyaUwu @RazorSharpShork I mean fourth sphere fleet is the easy one, but there’s also the poctrune (don’t remember the spelling) their first allied race that suddenly got wiped out by a virus that didn’t effect the T’au but was super effective against their ally race.

Warmaster@MrAntiHero1

Yes @MarcusCVance they're good because they are humans fighting to prevent the annihilation of the human race. So unless you're a fucking alien or a retarded nihilist, generally speaking you should be pro your own species survival. That and their enemies consist of giant sentient space mushrooms who exist only to wage war, giant bugs that want to devour all life in the galaxy, murdering space robot zombie skeletons that at minimum want to enslave humanity after annihilating most of it, LITERAL FUCKING DEMONS, and space elves that will turn you into a living couch for funzies. Hell the 'nicest' aliens still want to wipe out or subjugate humanity. The not sadistic space elves see humans as primitive monkeys to be expunged and the blue space weebs who practice eugenics. (Yes that is exactly what they do Kais, because they forbid inter-caste breeding to use as a form of control and to maintain genetic purity of said castes.)

@squidlord @Ochadoji999 To me, raging against that dying light when the alternative is certain death, even if that death is inevitable, is morally good for even the slimmest possibility of making out to the other side. That’s why the imperium is the good guys, and Iyanden, and farsight

I knew I could depend on you to get it. Thank Hades for that. The idea that Warhammer 40K has good guys and bad guys—that it even needs good guys and bad guys—is the sign of shallow, disordered thinking. It is the right-wing equivalent of the left-wing demand that they be represented in every movie, show, game, and world in exactly their own form. It is, not to put too fine a point on it, stupidity writ large. Warhammer 40K is fun and appealing in part particularly because of the fact that there are no good guys. You can argue that there are some better guys, but that's just an argument. Everyone is doing horrible things to survive. Most people are morally compromised from a modern perspective. The relentless external forces of the universe truly don't care about you, except as food or a speed bump on the way to doing something bigger than humanity is capable of. Everybody has bigger problems. That's just the way it is. Trying to throw Manichean dualism into it as a moral position is the act of a child. Is it an inherent moral good to preserve humanity? Doesn't matter. If you want humanity, you have to do some horrible, nasty, terrible, horrific things because it's a horrible, nasty, terrible, horrific universe. Modern ideas of moral good are not inherently rewarded. Modern ideas of moral evil are not inherently punished. Not being able to wrap your head around that from the perspective of the setting itself and those within it is just the same thing on both sides. It's all so tiresome. Now, from an exterior position, you may judge human behavior within the 40K universe as moral or immoral as you please, but it is just that, an external moral judgment imparted and imposed from outside the setting itself. The setting has no moral impetus within it, and that's pretty friggin' awesome! You want to go balls deep in being Fabius Bile and his merry band of homunculi, reveling in the horrors and nightmares? You go right ahead! That is okay. You are allowed, in fact encouraged. It's after all play. It's not real. Enjoy your play. You are not morally tainted by your enjoyment or your appreciation. I resent wholeheartedly this continuing attempt to claim moral high ground over a setting that doesn't possess it itself. That smacks of weakness. I don't need the Imperium of Man to be morally justified. That turns it into a flat, featureless entity. I want it to be lumpy and messy, morally horrific, but containing individuals who choose to do otherwise for their own reasons. Not necessarily because they want to be morally good, but because they see things that are morally different or intellectually different or accidentally different. I also don't need everything to reflect me and my beliefs. I'm not narcissistic enough for that. If we could put all the Chuds and the Wokies on the same island about 2,000 miles off the coast of California and let them monitor each other for signs of wrongthink while the rest of us get on with enjoying our lives, that would probably be advantageous for everyone everywhere. See to it, fancy lad.

@Raggamuff1n11 @Duderichy Iirc, a properly installed guide rail will deform and bend in such a way to bend away from, or even break and give way as to limit damage from them. In his case an improperly installed rail skewered into the car causing an otherwise rough but survivable crash into a fatal one
