@theseoguy_ What's your go to text/call back system?
English

building a website in 2026 is easier than it has ever been.
tools like replit and lovable can spit out a clean site in an afternoon for basically nothing.
the average roofer or dentist does not need to pay 10k for a website anymore.
but a website that exists and a website that makes money are two different things.
here is what every good local business website needs:
conversion side:
phone number in the top right corner on every page. clickable on mobile.
a form above the fold. name, phone, service needed. three fields. every field you add kills conversions.
real photos of you, your team, and your work. stock photos scream fake.
reviews embedded on the homepage. let your customers sell for you.
one clear action you want people to take. call or fill out the form. that is it.
seo side:
your main keyword in the h1. roofing company tampa. not "welcome to our website."
500 plus words of real copy on the homepage. talk about your services and your city.
a dedicated page for every service you offer.
a dedicated page for every city you serve.
your name, address, and phone matching your google business profile exactly.
lead capture side:
every form submission goes to your phone instantly. speed to lead wins deals.
a missed call text back system. 60 percent of callers will not leave a voicemail. text them back in seconds and you save the lead.

@rossiadam @TylerGriffin Haven't had that yet, but thanks for the new fear.

@TylerGriffin @SMBRodney This is a new state horror I have not yet been subjected to

@rossiadam @TylerGriffin You find out pretty quickly just how many states want their child support $.

We have 11 Google Business Profiles across 8 metro areas. We're planning to add one more profile in every metro where we currently have only one.
Initially, I made a big mistake. I focused on finding locations as close to downtown as possible, hoping to cover the largest area. But I found out Google Business Profiles don't work that way. As a result, in most metro areas our first GBP ended up in neighborhoods with relatively low median household income within a 5-mile radius, which significantly reduced our organic lead potential.
When we started adding new profiles, I shifted my focus to ZIP code median household income and population. But I still overlooked one important factor: competition.
Now I'm solving this problem technically, and it will become a new feature in Home Service Base.
For market research, it will collect and aggregate competitor and local economic data, then display it on the map with color-coded ZIP boundaries or configurable grid cells ranging from 1×1 mile to 15×15 miles.
Finding a location with good household income and low competition within a 4–8 mile radius can produce a noticeable increase in organic leads.
As a bonus, I plan to identify addresses already occupied by multiple home service businesses within a selected area, providing a list of potential rental locations.

@dougpayments Currently, all in person no financing options, 95% pay by check, don't get asked for financing very often but have an inclination it will help us close more and could push our average ticket up.
English

Financing is huge on a $21k average ticket. Love it
We have quite a few options, but I wouldn’t just throw out the name of one company without understanding your sales process and what kind of payment options you want to give the customer.
In home vs. online, promotional terms, longer term payments, approval range and funding speed are all important.
Happy to help you narrow it down

@irentdumpsters Let me know when you need the Stryker outdoor kitchen built !
English

Every single piece of construction that has gotten done on the Stryker Digital HQ has been done by local brands that we work with every single day.
I have a "GUY" for everything under the sun lol..... It helps when all of them rank top three on Google Maps
Everyone in the agency space wants to work with people all around the world, but there's something beautiful about working with people right in your backyard.
Having an in-person office plus being local is a HUGE MOAT.

@APompliano I never trust a man who uses a gift card at dinner either

Please raise your hand if…
I’m really here to connect with other business owners.
Raise your hand if you are currently a business owner (preferably operating) or tag someone else who posted good operating ideas / info / etc.
I want to improve my follow list so I can use the “for you” tab less.
Will create list of people if you want - let me know.

@irentdumpsters @AlexHartsuff What about construction ? Should I stop using Mensa Membership as a differentiator ?
English

@irentdumpsters What's the best way to filter out all the spam and cold calls soliciting ? We receive quite a number of calls but 99.9% of them tend to be spam.
English

I really didn’t realize how much of an issue this was
Until I had to start hiring home service business owners on our office building
I have been blown off three times now lol
Not on baby jobs either….

most expensive lead source: a phone that rings and nobody answers
English

@WilsonCompanies I’d love to know what software you use for:
/We installed speed-to-lead systems to respond to leads instantly
/We added 24/7 phone coverage so calls stopped going unanswered
English

Earlier this year, I bought a plumbing business. In the first 90 days, we doubled sales.
January hit 120K.
February hit 140K.
March hit 170K.
Here's how:
/We shifted marketing toward lead generation and filling the board daily
/We installed speed-to-lead systems to respond to leads instantly
/We added 24/7 phone coverage so calls stopped going unanswered
/We raised pricing roughly 15% to better match the market
/We improved technician training and sales consistency
/We updated compensation plans to reward performance
/We centralized admin work so the branch could focus on customers
English

@stevehunsaker1 We do 50% down 50% on completion for all our outdoor kitchens, only problem for us is that 50% usually only covers the equipment and the granite !
English

Kitchen cabinet guy asks for 50% deposit to get started.
Which I’m down for and give (cash)
Now he’s asking for another 25% while the kitchen looks like this. (Never communicated the installment schedule prior)
I am actually all for taking deposits for material but this is weird.
There’s not even doors yet.
Am I insane here?

@jamesonhaslam Don't ruin my day intentionally now, what if I can go golfing for 4 hrs, does that count ?

@NoRiskNoParty Thats crazy, mine is 10k a week , I may need to look into this
English

Bootstrapping a business with zero help from parents or investors gets a lot easier when you leverage overseas talent.
Last two weeks of March payroll was $3,000 for 10 employees.
I wouldn't have reached where I am today paying high salaries on a business that wasn't making any money.
Content, admin, ops, follow ups, edits, permits, scheduling.
All moving every day while you focus on the work that actually pays.
If you are trying to build with no capital, this is one of the highest leverage moves you can make.
For anyone wondering where you can find employees, I got majority of my work force from computrabajo dot com and Bumeran dot com.
I've had friends hire people in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia.
You can just make English a non negotiable and you'll find a lot of people wanting and willing to work for you.
Payroll can be done using Western Union since there's one in every corner of latin America.

English

@irentdumpsters @ReviewRoverCo As a follow up, I mentioned the specific community in a review reply recently and google edited it out, so the city may be as specific as you can get.
English

Google review hack nobody talks about:
When you respond to a 5-star review, don't just say "Thanks!"
Say this:
"Thank you [Name]! We're glad the [SERVICE] at your [CITY] home went smoothly. Our [SERVICE] team takes pride in every job."
You just told Google your business does [SERVICE] in [CITY] without stuffing a single keyword.
Do this on every review. Watch your Map Pack ranking move......
@ReviewRoverCo literally does this for you
