@StuartMcColl4 @jackmiddleton95 The economic data.
As manipulated by GERS, do you mean?

@SNPdboa @jackmiddleton95 Stop making excuses, you are campaigning for independence as part of the Holyrood election, clearly the economic data doesn’t prove your case.

@suzyhal35224037 What does Elizabeth Carr-Ellis know about Scotland? Does Labour not reckon any of its members in Fife North East are worthy of a nomination? Or do they just not want to stand? 😎

Higher bills, rising costs, energy jobs disappearing. That’s the reality of Westminster control.
Scotland’s energy wealth should work for people in Scotland.
On May 7th, make it #BothVotesSNP.

@Malcolm_Offord A lot of words for a simple precis: "I'm completely fine with climate change."
You will not fare well in a world that knows full well that seas are rising. Take your Reform guff and shove it. We do not want your idiotic policies up here in Scotland.

The mad push for net zero is making the grid dangerously over-reliant on wind power. If the power stations at Peterhead and Torness soon close, as planned, then mark my words: Scotland will see blackouts, which will cost lives.
I take climate change seriously. I went to the North Pole with the explorer David Hempleman-Adams, and have seen with my own eyes how the polar ice caps are melting.
But the UK accounts for just 0.8% of global carbon emissions, and Scotland even less – and it makes absolutely no sense to sacrifice well-paying, productive jobs in oil and gas, to undermine all our industries through sky-high energy prices, to make our grid dangerously unstable, and to make households foot the rising bill. That is not an example that any other country wants to follow.
When I first became a minister for the Conservatives in the Scotland Office in 2021, I believed the ranks upon ranks of experts who told us that net zero was a good idea – that it was not just good for the climate, but would be good for energy security and would bring down bills as well. Remember that the net zero targets were passed by Parliament with hardly a debate, because everyone was being told the same.
But when I became the shadow minister for Energy Security and Net Zero in 2024 and began to actually look into the economic details, I was horrified by what I learned - the Conservative government I had served in had overseen what amounted to national economic suicide. Worse, when I stood up in the Lords to speak out about it, it put a target on my back. I was roundly attacked as a heretic by the Tories who had overseen it. It became increasingly clear that the party would never truly change, and that any change of heart on energy would only be skin-deep.
There was only one party that had been implacably opposed to the madness since the start, which had been willing to stand up and tell the truth about net zero, even when it had been unpopular to do so.
That party, of course, was Reform. Its principled position on energy is the key reason I joined. It’s why I’m proud to be its leader in Scotland, the home of the UK’s oil and gas industry. And why I’m proud to be its MSP candidate in Inverclyde, in my hometown of Greenock, the birthplace of James Watt.
To vote for a party that has been honest on energy since the beginning, and not just when it seems popular, the only choice is Reform.
