@muneeb @axopoa Excuse my ignorance here, but why does contract call txs ie mints, contract deployments still take hours to settle? Will there be any improvements there? This is hurdle for any dev wanting to build on a smart contract chain

The bulk of the Nakamoto work shipped but some imp performance improvements need to go live. This was done because no one wants to delay sBTC. Now both the performance improvements and sBTC work can happen in parallel and foundations of Nakamoto are live and derisked. Analogy here would be that highway is built and shipped but there are certain choke points at exits that need to be removed which is much easier work and can happen much faster. These choke points are (a) cost functions upgrade, (b) tenure extend which refreshes compute budget, and (c) performance improvements to downloading blocks etc. these are outside of WASM work (which would be later). Users can experience fast blocks for simple tx now and soon can experience them for all tx. Not ideal but was the best path forward to take bulk of stuff online and launched on mainnet and derisk it.

But sir, wasn’t the Nakamoto upgrade supposed to bring 10x or 100x improvements already? My worry is that there’s always a new promise for big improvements, but things often turn out differently than what was marketed. Stacks 2.0, 2.05, 2.1, Nakamoto and now clarity WASM.

A WASM implementation of Clarity is coming, and while I don't know what the final performance numbers will be (it's under development), I can say that it'll probably be between 10x to 100x faster than the current VM. That's 10x-100x more TPS.
