Maybe that explains why you find patriotism weird. For you, you have no ties whatsoever for whatever “land” you happen to be on. If the piece of “land” you’re on goes to shit you can just abandon it Scott-Free to leave those who remain to suffer and clean up the mess with no care in the world.
For everyone else though, it’s not just “land” but a “nation”. I.E. a common heritage and community built over generations by our ancestors for us and our descendants with a shared history, culture, traditions, and destiny. We don’t have a place to flee to if it goes to shit, because this is our only home that has our unique culture and we naturally have pride in it and want self determination over it.
Your people contributed basically nothing positive and to its development and are actively sucking it dry before inevitably moving on to the next piece of “land” so it’s no surprise you’d have no attachment to it.
