On the precipice of precipitation. Rainy season starts soon in Florida! 🎉 Today’s scattered storms are from a front, but our daily downpours are just days away, depending on where you live. On average South Florida sees wet season start May 15, South-Central May 20, Central May 25th, North #Florida May 30th onwards. While not always on time, wet season produces about 2/3rds of our yearly rainfall. Hopefully this years is generous as 82% of the state is in extreme or exceptional #drought #rain

Max gust last night: 84mph at the Corpus Christi NAS😵‍💫 Lots of folks cleaning up this morning. I’ve seen electrical poles down, fences knocked over, and a metal shed tossed on top of a Stripes.

At this point, should we even call it the Sunshine State?? 🌧️ Heavy rain soaked parts of the Sunshine State on Mother’s Day, but after all that dry weather, some moms may have actually appreciated the free car wash from Mother Nature! More rain chances are sticking around for the Southeast. Stay tuned to WeatherNation for the latest! #FLwx

Strong El Nino years in the fall and winter typically bring increased severe weather and flooding for Florida. Stats support this. The 1993 Storm of the Century and the 1998 Tornado Outbreak were during stronger El Nino months. Looking like we will be in the same setup later this year. Just was doing some digging and thought I would pass along. Nothing ever is certain on a repeat that is for sure.

📷 West Central Florida is DRY… and the numbers are getting alarming. 📷📷 Rainfall deficits continue to grow across the region with some areas running at just 44%-52% of normal rainfall for the year. The lack of consistent soaking rain is STILL increasing drought concerns AND wildfire danger across the state. 📷 This isn’t just a “we need one rainy day” situation anymore… Florida needs weeks of widespread rain to truly recover. 📷 Every drop counts right now. #flwx Link to my data pulled for the image below: dex.cocorahs.org/stations/FL-HB…

@akaelwopo1 @WeatherProf If your understanding of this is THIS elementary, you should not be posting about such things. 1. That is Antarctica, NOT the arctic. 2. The gain of sea ice is the transition from summer to winter. 3. This does not compare against averages, so this quite literally means nothing.

I would much rather be the worst Storm Chaser than the best. Why? - I can set the bar way lower and not have people follow me and critic me all the time.

Planted some banana trees that I've been growing earlier this morning, very happy about it. A bit hot and muggy out, so going back inside felt great!

A group of chasers and I helped clear a path through I-10 while in the eye of Hurricane Helene. That was a fascinating adventure 🤣 I'll never chase (especially in Florida) without one.

Even in situations where you can’t assist medically you can still help save lives by trying to help clear debris from roadways. Id HIGHLY recommend carrying a chainsaw. If you can’t help with first aid any able bodied person can help clear debris for first responders.
