#BREAKING REPORT: The #Rohingya Human Rights Initiative has released "The Siege of Arakan" — documenting the Arakan Army's systematic atrocities against Rohingya civilians in Rakhine State, Myanmar, from April 2024 to January 2025. 🧵 A thread. — Based on 48 survivor testimonies (ages 15–58) collected across Bangladesh, Malaysia, and Thailand, the report documents: — Systematic burning of Rohingya villages — Mass killings and targeted aerial attacks — Sexual violence used deliberately as a weapon — Forced conscription of men and boys as human shields — A total communications blackout imposed by the AA — The Arakan Army now controls 14 of 17 townships in Rakhine State. MSF has suspended all medical operations. Pregnant women and children are dying from preventable conditions with no access to care. This is not crossfire. This is a campaign. — The Rohingya were stripped of citizenship in 1982. Over 700,000 fled the 2017 genocide. In 2024, a new armed group has picked up where Myanmar's military left off — and the world is barely watching. We are available for press briefings, comment, and source access.
