@CRMullins College and k-12 school are largely pointless and have been since the mid 2010s with the internet. But the value is in being social

@CRMullins Not the point, NYU is a prestige marker and valuable for connections. It absolutely matters where you went to school if you’re a Mormon

@the_phfs @jakecastilloooo Who’s paying for the app? How do you market it? How do you deal with the churn? It’s just untenable

@SableHummer @jakecastilloooo yep, that I’m aware of. I was curious why you think targeting 8th graders with micro-learning is not something that could be monetised.

@the_phfs @jakecastilloooo It’s a fundamentally different ball game. It’s a marketing and financial engineering game. It needs hard paywalls proven market share and good ad strategy

@SableHummer @jakecastilloooo could be 🤷‍♂️ I’ve only done B2B IIoT and Industry 4.0 stuff for nearly 20y. So it would genuinely help me better understand B2C mobile if you could develop on that.

@jakecastilloooo thoughts on a micro-learning app targeted at 8th grade students to help them pass the cycle-end exam (country specific)? gamified and with styling based on games/trends they enjoy

YOUR FIRST 1,000 APP DOWNLOADS IN 30 DAYS WITH $0 IN ADS week 1: a few thousand views, nothing special week 3: first video breaks 10k views week 5: first video goes properly viral week 8: multiple videos past a million views still $0 spent the entire time my article's step 9 budgets $10-30/day for paid UGC ads this replaces that budget with a system instead that gap right there is a process vs a recurring bill bookmark this before you spend another dollar on ads you didn't need to

This is very true. Job interviews are basically very rough IQ tests combined with a cultural fit, integrity, and domain-skills assessment. An organization sorting through many applicants would save a lot of time and immediately raise the quality of their pipelines if they were allowed to layer an aptitude test on top of these measures.
Hitchslap@Hitchslap1

Companies could save time and money if they hired people almost entirely on IQ. Not sure if that’s legal, but would make good sense. Think about it.

Making multiple apps is a permanent mistake I made this mistake 1 year ago made like 12 apps it split my focus too much. theres so much to optimize in 1 single app and no time to be thinking about another one. Just to name a few things: → Day 1, 7 , 30 retention → Onboarding completion rate → Conversion rate at paywall → Trial conversion rate → ARPU ( test best pricing ) → CPA on ads ( tied to product ) → Web funnels → Profit margins → UGC deals → Organic marketing systems → Team culture and so much more. there are infinite things to do with 1 app making $10 - $20k/mo means nothing because once said apps stop running ads, They will go to $0 and at that point you are not building an app that’s just a cash grab, might as well pack it up and start drop shipping so focus on 1 app, and make it generational. thats the only way this business model makes sense.

Fable is still too narrow in how it solves by default. You have to break it out of wack-a-mole mode and into systems level thinking yourself.

@AyaHuntington @pcshipp Running ads is brain dead easy and it’s astonishing people make it out like some voodoo magic. A. Your app idea should be validated already B. Find your comp and copy and iterate lmao. Run Apple Ads then TT

@pcshipp People telling you to full send running ads don't have your best interest in mind. Running ads should be done if you a) have the capital and/or b) know what already works. Otherwise you're potentially going to burn thousands of dollars and have a low ROAS

I'm very disappointed with my app revenue, so I stopped building new apps and started focusing on marketing instead of building. People on X always say marketing is hard, but I never cared much about it. Now that I've started doing it myself, I realize it's even harder than I thought. Now I'm working 15 hours a day, and that will only increase until I reach $1,000 MRR. I still feel like I'm not doing enough, so I'm going all in on marketing. I just started improving my skills in ASO, running ads, SEO, and social media marketing. So far, I haven't seen any good results. I'm not focusing on the results anymore. It hurts, but the grind has already started.

@scootykins All you have to do is post a software engineer job and within an hour you have a thousand applications with AI-generated cover letters all “personalized” to the job description in the same way, and resumes stuffed with keywords from the job requirements. It’s all so tiresome.

@jakecastilloooo Distribution requires a toll every time you try something new it’s easy if you have capital otherwise you’re sol

Distribution is actually fairly simple and it can be learned It just needs to be trained like a muscle Practice crafting hooks, showcasing benefits, exploiting psychological triggers in your messaging, and eventually you’ll become a master at distribution. It’s not nearly as hard as people make it out to be, but too many people are afraid to fail enough to figure out how to do it at an elite level
Nick Lawton@nicholasnlawton

once you understand that distribuition is the ultimate skill to learn is the day you will stop being broke. because, nobody cares you came up with an original idea that never got a single pair of eyeballs on it, instead of your friends and fam. the world does need more originality, no doubt there, but if you understand distribution then you can truly do anything.
