@broadwaybabyto My nurses were strictly enforcing the policy for my visitors but stepped out for this other health care worker to do her thing which meant being in the room for ~1 hr with me. I couldn’t believe someone who works w new transplant patients could be so knowingly careless

@broadwaybabyto I’m sorry you had to go through that. Had something similar when I was 1 day post transplant in the hospital (so at my most immunocompromised) and a transplant coordinator (!!) got annoyed when I asked her to mask since that was also policy for my room (w a sign on my door)

Had my first healthcare worker refuse to mask
My chart says I’m immune compromised & require staff to mask. The facility had a policy that if asked, staff will wear
I was told “no I need to breathe to do my job”.
I stood firm & said I’m high risk and masks are required 🧵

Godspeed to you if you're going to a party (?) to watch tonight, but I had a party in 2016 to watch the results, and the vibe shift that happened was so sudden and horrific that I'll quite simply never do that again in my life.

@AlaskanKate I agree but when I had a temporary disability, cruising was one of the only convenient ways for me to travel. Still didn't want to do the mega cruises though for the reasons you mentioned. We did a small luxury cruise and it was actually really nice, given the constraints.

I need someone to commiserate with me on the senselessness of cruises as a vacation option. The aggressive mediocrity. The dystopian nightmare of being at sea with thousands of other people just for fun. Etc. Pls, can anyone relate???

@VioletSpiceXXX @Sblahov They're exhausted from the anti-mask, 'covid isn't real' pushback. More importantly, Budget office won't fund enough PPE. Understaffed, overworked, HCWs are TIRED. If you ask, they'll mask.

@Shakeira_C @VioletSpiceXXX @Sblahov In Sept I was fresh out of transplant surgery (so very immunocompromised) and the doctors put a mask sign on my door and so many providers STILL ignored it when coming to my room, including people who's job is specifically to work with transplant patients 😐

…workplaces absolutely do not affirm any sort of disability based on self diagnosis. workplaces require medical documentation and sometimes people provide it and still do not get accommodations.

i think it’s genuinely strange to always expect a friend who has fallen very ill or is having severe mental health issues to do an “i’m ignoring you but i’m not mad at you” press tour. genuinely. people become incapacitated by these things sometimes

they also require context. if someone can’t be present, informing the people who love and care about them helps to minimise anyone making assumptions. they don’t have to go into detail about what they’re going through, and true friends will understand this. a lot of friendships fall apart not because of a lack of consistent communication, but because of a lack of information.

this makes me really sad to see. especially as i make amends with my body and start to understand it’s consciousness and the way it speaks to me.
the body loves you so much, it really is doing it’s best for you and every time your heart pumps it’s a love letter from the consciousness of your body, who has decided to do everything it can to keep you alive so that you may have a vehicle to experience life.
the body is also YOU. a part of you. it is not the mind so it doesn’t have language to convey what it needs, it has a childlike innocence and understanding that is quite elegant but very simple. when it hears you and sees you preferring other bodies and wishing parts of it away or hurting it because you don’t like the way it looks or functions, the body is pained and bewildered and it holds on to that.
you cannot dream of another body. you are all your body dreams of.
