@RepMcCormick I’m sure your conscience doesn’t keep you up at night over this. The earthquake was in 2010. TPS is not a pathway for amnesty or new voters! If they’ve established families deport them all keep the family together. No amnesty send them home. American citizens demand this.!

I voted to extend TPS for Haitians because I cannot, in good conscience, send people who were lawfully granted protection here, followed our laws, and built lives under our rules back to rape, murder, and chaos in a lawless Haiti. This is completely separate from amnesty or illegal immigration. Conflating the two is dangerous.

This is how a nation loses control of its immigration system: not all at once, but through endless “temporary” exceptions. Haitians got 18-months of TPS for a 2010 Earthquake. Now some want it to be a conveyor belt to de facto amnesty. I will fight to stop this in the Senate.

My Congressman, Mike Turner, just voted to extend Haitian TPS. Turner represents Springfield, Ohio. For reference, each Haitian TPS refugee costs roughly $1400 a month. More if they have multiple children. With Republicans like these, why do we need Democrats?
