The Modi government has directly stated in the Supreme Court that PILs (public interest litigation) should be eliminated from the ground. This means that the public should no longer have to go to court to defend their rights. First, understand what a PIL is. When a poor person, laborer, farmer, or common man is unable to fight alone, any individual or organization can file a petition in court on their behalf. This is a weapon to fight for the rights of the common people. But the Modi government does not like this weapon. They are saying that PILs are no longer needed. Just imagine,what is the Modi government's thinking? Modi wants to take away the public's most important right-the right to ask questions. First, they weakened the RTI. RTI was introduced during the Congress regime so that the public could ask questions to the government, find out where the government is spending money, or obtain any information. What did the Modi government do? Weakened the RTI. RTI will not be applicable on the PM CARES Fund. Questions could not be asked on Electoral Bonds (until the Supreme Court struck them down). And they wouldn't provide any other information. Now, PILs are also being targeted. The meaning is clear, न रहेगा बांस, न बजेगी बांसुरी, The public will neither be able to file PILs, nor will they be able to ask questions through RTI, nor will the government have to answer. This has been going on for 12 years. Spend public tax money on publicity, make empty promises, and run away from accountability. Now the government is dictating to the public to sit down quietly, instead of questioning and believe that whatever the Modi govt does is right. Wake up, raise your voice... otherwise, tomorrow the doors of the courts will also be shut down for the common man.
