@jpottingaround @cphilits I feel like Young being a UFA really changes this though, right? He could take less money somewhere else if he wanted, Kessler can't.

@cphilits What was Trae Young’s market before he got 4/200M?

I don’t know if anyone has figured this out yet, but there’s no market for Kessler and there never was. The Jazz made a fair offer and his camp botched it by trying to create something that didn’t exist.

@jayjazz3 I don't see the depth in the second round for it to be worth trading one of them, unless there's someone there you'd really like? I'd rather just stack players that have some known NBA strengths and use them as needed.

We got @Tjonesonthenba on the pod tonight. I know I got questions for him, but what questions you got for him?

Last year I had Cooper Flagg, VJ Edgecombe, Dylan Harper, Cedric Coward, Collin Murray-Boyles and Ryan Kalkbrenner as my top 6 prospects Here's my 2026 NBA Draft Big Board.

@FootFour4076 @joedart18 @NotOnGTA I'm really not concerned about his on-off numbers when the majority of his minutes were with Filipowski at Center. He played a lot of minutes on a team working very hard to lose. His TS% isn't great, but it's just below VJ and Tre and above guys like Fleming and Clifford

@SadJazzFan15 @joedart18 @NotOnGTA Inconsistent and inefficient. Jazz won 22 games and were far better off with him off the court. Consistency and efficiency are extremely difficult to improve, especially as a poor defender. Don't see it working out. There's a reason you aren't HappyJazzFan, right? 😂

@ArtTakesNote The lack of rim pressure scares me, AJs shooting scares me, Boozers lateral movement scares me, I'm ready for summer league to give me highlights to be excited about

@Tjonesonthenba I actually like him a lot too. He's a great shooter, plays hard on defense, knows his role well. Sometimes he gets a little trigger happy but I think he'd tone it down when playing with the main guys.

@ArtTakesNote @PointGuardLife8 Sounds like Jokic. I watched teams try to get Boozer switched out on the perimeter too often to think he's a good defender, but he's a very smart defender who plays well within the teams defense if that makes sense. Positive impact overall but scary in close games.

@PointGuardLife8 Sure got a lot of steals and had good defensive metrics for being a bad defender then

Who can still perform defensively while carrying the entire offense on their back? - Cam Boozer - Darryn Peterson - Cooper Flagg These are the only freshman in the last 5 years of college basketball to carry an offensive load of 45+ while maintaining a 2.5+ STL% and 2+ BLK%.

@jayjazz3 @TheRealRigelis I feel like 24/4/6 on 46/37/89 is very clearly a building block, is it not? Not "the" building block, but more than a role player

@TheRealRigelis Some might, but then the narrative shifts from “Key’s a building block/all-star” to “He’s not. He’s a roll player.”

@McCadeP8 He has 29 points on 11-19 shooting, what are we doing here? His best offense is rolling to the rim like Gobert, but he's miles ahead of Gobert offensively.

In 309 total minutes with Jaden Bradley off the floor: Brayden Burries AST/40 doubled from 2.6 to 5.2. His A/TO ratio jumped from 1.5/1 to 2/1. This is a guy who averaged 30 PTS a game in high school and was a finalist for Gatorade HS NPOY with Cam Boozer and Caleb Wilson. Burries is a scale up candidate in the future and would be successful at it imo. He could have went somewhere else besides Arizona and shown his on ball chops but went to a better team and contributed to winning in a way a lot of prospects of his caliber couldn’t.

@McCadeP8 Yeah they should've gone 0-82 and then we could've gotten the 5th pick like the Pistons did. We got a top 5 player in that draft, we didn't get the generational luck the Spurs have.

It’s impossible to bat 1.000. This front office picked Keyonte George over Cam Whitmore, Jalen Hood Schifino, & other perceived best player available. This FO picked Ace Bailey over Tre Johnson & Fears. I trust this FO much more than the people blindly yelling “DP or AJ ONLY!”
Benjamin Smith@Benjiman31

@SpencerKeele We've had a FO that passed on passed on Bane and McDaniels (after drafting Mitchell and Gobert). This FO used assets to get Walt Clayton Jr, that's not looking good. I can't blindly trust anymore.

@ArtTakesNote I think it's best to have tiers of players and then draft best fit out of that tier. I think DP, AJ, and Cam are all in the same tier in this draft, so fit matters more when you have a choice. In other draft classes, there's often a more obvious talent gap

Has drafting BPA over fit no matter what gone too far? That is one of Chad’s hot takes in the latest episode. It is thought provoking. Cam Boozer - team still has a hole at SG. It would also require roster reconstruction going forward (probably moving one of Lauri/JJJ/Kessler). Darryn Peterson - perfect fit next to Keyonte and fills the hole at SG at the same time. Zero roster reconstruction needed to maximize minutes.

Episode 61 of Jackpotting Around is live! Jazz/Wizards leverage talk! We are so back! @jpottingaround and I talk about how to fill out the rest of the roster if we did draft Darryn Peterson. Plus I’m still trying to make Cam Boozer happen! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jac…

@gggiants Pitching gave up 3 runs. I understand that there's been issues, but it's hard to pin the game on the pitching when two of our most expensive hitters remain below average

If the Cavs lose this series and start moving pieces, the Jazz need to make a push for Sam Merrill. He'd fit like a glove in Hardy's system and the dude plays winning basketball

@danclayt0n Also, does this change the limit on how far a team can drop? Because Utah and Washington had their tanks largely shaped by trying to guarantee that they'd keep their picks
