We got lost in Karura Forest when hitting the bike trails earlier today having done the full red trail for the first time with my boys [Shafiq, Hamid, Marjan and their cousin Rayyan Junior from Uganda] only to get lost whereby we ended up doing the blue trail as well 🤯🚴🏾😮💨🚴🏾♂️😤🚴🏾🫣🚴🏾♂️🙄🚴🏾 Fortunately, exhausted as we were, we also got to explore new terrains plus the Mau Mau caves and its nearby waterfall too before we reconnected with little Ahmad and the ladies at the KEFEET Centre.
As the saying goes “𝑨 𝒎𝒂𝒏 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒕. 𝑯𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒅𝒊𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒘 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆𝒔”. #Gem_of_a_quote 💎
The boys were flat out at some point but the new trails re-energized all of us with an awesome workout in the pristine Karura Forest that always reminds me of the legendary late Nobel Laureate Prof Wangare Mathai the results of whose sacrifices and commitments shall continue to be enjoyed for generations.
Memories from the 2023 year-end holidays 🥰

Yesterday on 7 October 2023 we joined in the extra-special 90th birthday celebration for Dr Uma Nathwani - a most wonderful senior doctor and lovely human being who has been a godmother and mentor to many in the medical profession particularly in Mombasa and within KMA circles.
I was very privileged and fortunate to get to know Dr Uma Nathwani at an early age in my career as a final year Med Student from the University of Nairobi who had just joined Kenya Medical Association (KMA) Nairobi Branch as a student representative and charged with setting up the KMA IT systems and EAMJ website, having met at the KMA Annual Scientific Conference in 2001 leading to a lifelong friendship, mentorship and camaraderie that I’ve continued to cherish over the years.
Dr Uma Nathwani is one of the longest serving @KenyaMedics_KMA members and a decorated KMA stalwart who has among other roles served in several capacities as an honorary executive official of KMA in Mombasa Division and also as the National Convenor of the KMA National Awards Committee.
The nonagenarian doctor, who retired about a decade ago after 6 decades of medical practice, is a celebrated pioneer of private clinical practice and occupational health having been part of Mombasa Medical Practice which she run successfully for many years retiring only recently in the last decade.
Prior to that Dr Uma Nathwani worked as a Medical Officer of Health with Mombasa Municipal Health Department; and also until very recently served as longstanding Board Member and Board Secretary at the Pandya Memorial Hospital in Mombasa.
We continue to celebrate and honor this great lady and doctor 🙌🏾

Hamid our 3rd born son received a certificate of achievement for KCSE 2022 results during a graduation and award ceremony yesterday 6-5-2023 at his former school Light Academy Boys Nairobi, an event that he almost missed attending altogether but fortunately agreed to attend at the last minute accompanied by his Mum.
I had received a call from the School Principle Mr Emrah Sanin who on the eve of the event asked me whether I would agree to give a speech as a parent at the graduation. I told him that I was unaware of the graduation and had traveled out of town for a Board Retreat. He was surprised that I was unaware as Hamid had been informed and expressed regret that I couldn’t make it considering that Hamid was getting an award for most improved student who rose from lower grades before KCSE exams to attaining a mean grade A- 🥹
When I called Hamid he flatly told me he knew of the event but was completely uninterested in the graduation ceremony as it is usually not a real graduation 😳 It took some pursuasion from his Mum and myself to get him to agree to attend the event especially since he was to be awarded also stating that had I known earlier I would’ve planned my schedule differently to be with him.
The picture says it all 😊 I’m informed by both Hamid and his Mum that he had a great time at the graduation ceremony and even stayed behind then went out till late with his former classmates who he had caught up with.
Kudos Hamid 👊🏾
