Pakistan’s agricultural provinces will face severe water shortages & reduced crop yields - Historic Wagah-Attari border crossing, near Amritsar & Lahore, has been closed - Visas cancelled & revoked for all Pakistani nationals. Pakistani visa-holders ordered to leave India by May 1st - Pakistani military officials stationed in India have been declared persona non grata, and are to be expelled from India immediately India and Pakistan share decades of perpetual political, civil & military unrest, but South Asian geopolitical experts and media see this escalation as significant due to the economic implications for Pakistan. Pakistani officials have previously referred to the Indus Water Treaty as a national security interest, and have said that its violation could be interpreted as an act of war.
