Marc Andreessen: There are two ways to think about education. One is at the national level — how do you educate all kids? But the real question is N = 1: what do you do for one individual kid? And for centuries, the answer has been obvious. If your goal is to maximize a single child, the best method by far is one-on-one tutoring. Every royal family knew this. Every aristocratic class knew this. It’s why Alexander the Great was tutored by Aristotle — and then took over the world. There’s actually statistical proof of this. The Bloom’s 2-sigma effect shows one-on-one tutoring can move a kid from the 50th percentile to the 99th percentile. No other educational method comes close. AI changes that. For the first time in history, every kid can have access to infinite questions, instant feedback, personalized explanations, and real-time quizzes — all at N = 1 scale. This is the most powerful shift in education we’ve seen in centuries. One-on-one tutoring was always the gold standard. AI is what finally makes it available to everyone.

@stats_feed Calm down! An elephant can grow by 1 pound and it’s growth is <0.001% but if a mouse grew by a pound it would be a giant mouse.

@ZapataBob48 @stats_feed The issue is that this “growth” which is a relative % where GDP overall is a size. An elephant can grow by 1 pound and it’s <0.001% but if a mouse grew by a pound it would be a giant mouse.

@stats_feed My understanding a gross domestic product is that you have to produce something and then sell it to get on the list. Perhaps that’s the issue here.

@AllyJKiss @j_fishback Lawsuits are not a good guage of character. Lawyers fish for any tortious basis to file and the contents of the suits rarely tell the full story. This may be a piece of information but it lacks any counter arguments so it’s not particularly important.

Who is James Fishback? He’s not good guy👇 He was sued in 2024 by his former employer Greenlight, a hedge fund company. He resigned in 2023 because he knew he was about to be fired for underperforming. During his last weeks of employment he disclosed proprietary confidential information, lied about his title (one that didn’t exist to make him sound important) and accomplishments with the company, and solicited potential clients while secretly forming Azoria his current hedge fund company. This was all in breach of his employment agreement. He then went on a podcast social media blitz defaming Greenlight and continued to falsely take credit for investments and business decisions he never made. Greenlight was then compelled to obtain a permanent injunction against him in NY Federal court (Fishback actually stipulated to the facts alleged against him in the injunction). Fishback also borrowed money while employed with Greenlight and then defaulted on the promissory notes. They accelerated the loan and he failed to pay the amount (appx $240k). Greenlight sent several demand letters which Fishback ignored. Greenlight took him to court in a separate case and obtained a civil judgment in NY which he has failed to pay. Greenlight has now brought a post-judgment action in Florida (currently pending in Fed court)for writ of execution against his bank accounts and other assets. The U.S. Marshal just sold his tesla at auction for 20k. Some documents in the cases are sealed but many are not. Here’s some receipts. This man should not be our governor.

@pulte Wouldn’t it be better to just pay down the interest rate for a longer period of time on an adjustable rate mortgage? Instead of a three year reprieve make it 10 years? Increase the loan to value by putting that interest rate reduction on the back end of the mortgage?

@bonchieredstate It’s more like rent, but you’re tethered to a place that you can actually renovate and call Home. You also have to pay taxes on it and keep it up. You can also pay it off in 30 years or 10 years if you get a windfall of some sort.

@HarvardBiz You either stay on schedule and take the task to the phone or a mobile device, push it to the next day first thing, or you ask a family member if they’re nearby and can manage the nanny transfer if it’s so quick. Adaptability and being nimble in situations is an important skill.

You’re wrapping up for the day. It’s 4:57 p.m. If you’re not out the door by 5, you won’t be able to meet your nanny before she has to leave. A colleague comes over to ask if you can help him with a quick task. How do you turn him down without appearing like a poor team player? s.hbr.org/2M7pcHb

There are times in life where flexibility is required on both the part of an employee and a company. I currently have one staff member out on a family emergency in another country and another one that was hit by a car riding a bicycle. The rest of the team is picking up the slack. Your perspective is self-centered, and doesn’t account for the realities of life and business.
