I’m not a fan of jungle justice at all, but I won’t lie, I was genuinely proud of what happened in my hood this morning. A group of guys, and even some girls, decided they had had enough. They went from house to house, targeting those who have been selling “Colos” to young boys in the area. This thing has become a pandemic, and the sellers have been moving mad without fear. They rounded all of them up, beat the living daylights out of them, and forced them to swear that if they ever sell that nonsense again, they’ll be burnt alive. No negotiation. No mercy. They even paraded them past my street… and honestly, I felt proud of the movement. Sometimes a community has to stand up for itself🙌

@chudy_jnr Why not handover them to the police or even petition NDLEA? This kind of thing sets a bad precedent. It’s sweet to read on X, but in real life it can be hijacked for all sorts of shady things. Mob action is never the way, especially when there are alternatives that work better.

@chudy_jnr There's never a time the act of jungle justice will be justified. Never. If not that our system and institutions are corruptly corrupt, we won't be here in the first place Back to the issue. Now that the sellers have been beaten, I hope they rally round and beat the buyers too.

@chudy_jnr The right thing to do was to pass the information to the authorities (NDLEA). If the suspect(s) had died in the hands of the hoodlums, they'll be charged for culpable homicide. Even as it stands, if the victim(s) wants to make a case, s/he can. The law isn't emotional.
