Can someone tell unc if it’s possible to enjoy a Pokémon game nowadays if we only know the 250 Pokémon after Silver and Gold were released in 1999? Like how can I possibly enjoy it when there are over 1,000 now? It’s probably impossible, right?

I played high school football against MLB player Joc Pederson. I watched one film session of him I thought “that’s the most athletic kid I’ve ever seen in my entire life”. It was instantly obvious he was built differently. And to think football wasn’t even his best sport.

Pro athletes are literally built differently. I went to high school with 2 successful MLB pitchers. Craziest story came from freshman year: During tryouts, one of the tests they had us do was to see how far we could throw a baseball. We walked out to the football practice field and lined up in the end zone. I threw 60-65 yards. Then a kid (the future pro) threw a ball out of the other end zone. As. A. Freshman. Every coach stopped what they were doing, handed him another ball and said “do it again”. And he did. By sophomore year he was throwing in the mid to upper 90’s. You cannot teach that kind of arm talent. You’re either born with it or you’re not. I was not.

@wwwildcom @SpeederLight1 Japan, Korea, the US, and most Latin American countries adore baseball. Europe and Africa don't seem to know it exists, but considering the passion for the game in Japan thanks to Shohei Ohtani you'd think there would be more of a push!

@SpeederLight1 I think it's unlikely because baseball isn't popular in many countries other than the US and Japan. You can say that doesn't matter but it mattered enough to nintendo at the time to literally not even release the game internationally

I really hope the next mario sports game is a mario baseball game. I been waiting for 18 years now for a new game. I also really hope they bring a story mode to the game to just like the past games. I also really hope they bring unique baseball bats just like the rackets in mario tennis fever. I also hope they bring new modes, a really cool new mechanic, ranked online mode, and alot more things.

Matt is right. The laws of supply/demand tell you that #49ers will be getting numerous calls from pursuers of a Mac Jones trade. Some seriously tangible advice here. It’s a shame to see so many legacy media models crumble and know so many talented veterans are out of work, but the opportunity to reinvent your approach in sports media, or any other form of media for that matter, is right in front of us.

Feel for all the sports reporters out of work. I was a journalism major in college, started my "career" wanting to be a NBA beat reporter. Loved and still love actual newspapers. Putting this out there: If you start a site that investigates and answers the questions people with actual money on the line want to know, we will pay you actual money. In other words, no one cares about "3 keys to Sunday's game" or that "X player is in the best shape of his life." But a ton of people are willing to pay for "In practice this week, Rhamondre rotated more with TreVeyon than he did ahead of the AFCCG." Or "Elijah Arroyo again was behind Saubert and Kallerup in TE drills this week." (no idea if these are true, just examples) Maybe it's a dumb idea, maybe it's not possible, maybe I'm alone in willing to pay a lot for this. But if looking for a financial model that works in sports journalism, I'd be looking to serve the people with financial incentives.
