Today marked the end of a successful operation to safely dispose of the WW2 ordinance found in Plymouth this week. A massive effort by all agencies involved, with great examples of @jesip being put into action. A big thank you must also go out to all @swasFT colleagues involved

Over my dead body. An NHS free at the point of use has been its central equitable principle for 75 years. Patients should never have to worry about the bill. It’s up to Labour, which founded the NHS, to grip the biggest crisis in its history and make it fit for the future.

This is your NHS. This is what staff are experiencing on the daily. You have highly educated, desperately in need staff on 20-odd K, and you only have to pick a random one out to find out why we are haemorrhaging them. Heart goes out to this ED nurse.

@DCollingsHughes I use this analogy a lot. Might be controversial, but my view is that for this reason there’s no such thing as an in appropriate call. Just an inappropriate/broken system if it results in an ambulance attendance.

A story about "unnecessary" ambulance calls. I took my car to a mechanic once for a noise that turned out to be nothing. They didn't complain, even though I wasn't in need of their services and others probably would've known I didn't require a mechanic at all. 1/x

The time’s come to admit the NHS in England has ceased to function as a proper emergency service. That’s not because of strikes: it’s why there are strikes. It’s failed because of deliberate neglect by a government that has always wanted to privatise it to end free care for all.
