Geneva: During the 57th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, I informed the Council about the issue of enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, “Kill and dump” policy of Pakistani state in #Balochistan and Urged the United Nations to intervene and save the lives of thousands of people who have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistan.

Baloch Yakjehti Committee welcomes the United Nations Committee Against Torture (CAT) for highlighting the ongoing human rights violations in Pakistan, including the situation of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other political prisoners and human rights defenders. In its latest findings issued on May 1, 2026, the Committee raised concerns regarding the cases of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, former Prime Minister Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, Idris Khattak, and Ali Wazir. The Committee also expressed concern over the denial of proper medical care to detained activists and political figures. The UN Committee Against Torture further raised serious concerns about reports of torture, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detention, harassment, intimidation, and reprisals against human rights defenders, journalists, civil society activists, protesters, lawyers, and critics of the Government in Pakistan. The Committee stated that many activists and dissenting voices have faced physical attacks, politically motivated charges, enforced disappearances, excessive use of force, and arbitrary arrest and detention. These findings reflect the reality that human rights organizations and affected families have continuously highlighted for years. Baloch Yakjehti Committee joins the UN Committee Against Torture in calling on the Government of Pakistan to immediately end all forms of repression and human rights violations, review the cases of all individuals detained on political grounds or in retaliation for their peaceful work, ensure access to adequate medical care for detainees, guarantee fair trials, and hold accountable those responsible for torture, enforced disappearances, and abuses against human rights defenders. So reportedly, while facilitating US-Iranian negotiations and cozying up to President Trump, Pakistani military leaders have also allowed Iranian military aircraft to secretly park in a Pakistani airfield to avoid destruction by US attacks. If the report is confirmed, noone should find it surprising. Working simultaneously with and against the US has been a pattern of Pakistani policies for the last 40 years. Fozia Baloch, a member of the BYC, is being harassed and pressured for demanding the safe return of her forcibly disappeared brother, DaadShah Baloch. Her family has faced intimidation, threats, and obstruction simply for seeking legal rights and accountability.
