The heart of the paper was inspired by the @KiesslingGroup’s AWESOME work on C-H pi interactions in glycan recognition, which drive the observed catalyst-controlled regioselectivity. I strongly recommend reading these papers immediately!

I was told the rise of degraders would mean the rise of non-active site ligands, and yet almost every PROTAC paper I see is an active site inhibitor attached to a ligase-recruiting ligand...

@KRHornberger I’ve been wondering what sorts of pharma/biotech positions are open to entry level PhD chemists that don’t require wet chemistry/lab based work?
I love my work in the Pfizer design role, but how common is it outside big pharma? (It’s a frequent question from new grads IMO)

@med_chemist Tecfidera. I’m not sure this exactly fits your definition since the “hit” was fumaric acid described as early as 1959 for MS, which was developed into the drug, dimethyl fumarate, and approved less than a decade ago.

Breaking News: Pfizer said its pill to treat Covid-19 had been found to be highly effective at preventing severe illness among at-risk people. It appears to be more effective than a similar offering from Merck, which is awaiting U.S. authorization. nyti.ms/2YhCyGE
