Took a while, but finally got around it!
Jura it is - bought it based on the comments! 🙏

StripMallGuy@realEstateTrent
Six thousand dollars. That’s how much my wife and I spent on coffee this year. Feels like it’s time for a nice espresso machine for the house. Recommendations? 🙏

@keyan_concrete @Nick30D I do pour with volumetric trucks that have chilled water and use a mix design that has water reducer and retarder in it
Honestly the worst part was the heat but the concrete setup beautifully!

@SamuelTees @Nick30D Dude that’s a massive driveway and it was super hot by 11. I’m sure it gave you hell!

Got an SOS call from another local concrete guy today mid-morning
His pump crew’s trailer pump broke down on the site. Thankfully the ready mix plant was running late so they went back to the shop for a backup pump.
But the concrete still showed up and the truck sat in the sun for 30-45 minutes before the pump was working.
In the summer heat working concrete, a 1-2 hour delay can be a big problem.
Today was a heat index of 102° and windy (wind dries concrete even faster)
I got my tools together and hurried over there to give them a hand.
When I got there the pump crew was laid out on the lawn totally shot and the concrete crew was doing fine but working hard as the heat was still increasing.
After an hour of hustle everything was under control.
Lead guy didn’t have a cooler. I asked if anyone needs water and every person looked at me like a dog dying in a hot car. So I quickly drove to Casey’s and got a bag of waters, gatorade, and twizzlers to help the crew.
I told the lead he needs to get a cooler, he said he has one but forgot it today. I said theres no forgetting the cooler. When you’re the boss you have to take care of your guys or they cant take care of the work.

@Nick30D @keyan_concrete Damn that looks phenomenal!!!
We had a hell of day on a 30 yd driveway, couldn’t get concrete until 11 but we pushed through it!
English

@keyan_concrete That’s awesome
What are you charging other contractors to day finish?
English

Today’s Job 👍
29 steps up this steep hill, doing the driveway next week
day finishing today, not my job
had three different concrete business owners on site today working together to make this happen
the lead contractor said to me “i like working with other business owners because they’re the only ones that care as much as me”
pretty nervous about the driveway but our lead finisher has 25 years experience and said it’ll be no big deal…
we’ll see🙂
