Nuclear power is clean,doesn’t emit any Green House Gases( GHGs),the cause of climate change.Fast breeder reactors,( we have the technology)using Thoruim( which we have in abundence),could be a game changing idea for energy security.Nuclear power could provide greed stability,will be a good base load.In 1998 as Enviorenment Minister in Atal ji cabinet,i had proposed to allow Nuclear power as CDM under then prevailing Kyoto protocol of UNFCC.sadly the countries using the most of nuclear in their energy mix,opposed it,on moral grounds,a sign of hypocracy.Today smaller reactors could be installed,stringent safety protocols be put in place,waste would be minimal with FBR.Nuclear must be substantial part of our energy mix for several reasons .
