Mathipandile Sotheni, accused of murdering Witness D (Marius van der Merwe), is scheduled to return to the Brakpan Magistrate's Court today for a formal bail application.
The former SAPS Special Task Force member is facing charges of premeditated murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and attempted murder.
Suspended EMPD deputy chief, Julius Mkhwanazi, is also back in the Boksburg Magistrate's Court.
He and the City of Ekurhuleni's City Manager, Kagiso Lerutla, are applying for bail after being arrested last week on charges including corruption and fraud.
It’s believed further charges are being investigated against both men.
