Israel pulling its embassy from Ireland is a huge deal for Irish people who have deluded themselves into thinking they have any kind of role in this conflict (the few hundred blind soldiers they sent to squat in Lebanon aren't a big deal.)

on my flight, I was sat beside two kids. The hostess came up to me and asked if i could do her a favour. She said, the kids (8 & 12) were traveling alone and if I could please watch them especially when we touch down. The plan was to hand them over to ground staff.

I was walking through London last night when someone called out of the dark at me, "Are you Jew?"
I froze and turned around.
It was two school girls. They asked again if I was a Jew. They had something in their hands. I panicked and said no.
I was expecting them to launch into an angry "Palestine" rant and thrust pamphlet material at me.
It turns out they were handing out candles for Hanukkah.
I'm not Jewish. But I shan't forget that volt of panic I felt in the moment I realised I was being viewed as a Jew, and not knowing if things would end well or end badly because of it.
I cannot imagine what actual Jews in London and Europe are going through at the moment. I felt paranoid for the rest of my trip.
Whilst their offer of candles set my mind at rest and the world became a better place for a moment, it is easy to imagine such an interaction going in the opposite direction...
